just what i found online “ bermuda mixes well with st. Augustine because it will quickly fill in the patches in the lawn that would take longer to reach with all sod. Bermuda grass seed is less expensive to plant and will spread quickly across your lawn.”

my gardener mr marley says ganga is best for spot seeding

Has anyone combined Bermuda seed with their St Augustine grass? I’ve been reading that it’s a great combination. Any thoughts or opinions on this? Looking to create a super thick lawn. Looking for serious opinions, and experiences. Thank you in advance

Bermuda grows much faster than st Augustine

My neighbors lawn guy did that and now realizes he made a mistake

Tell him to spray with Atrazine it will kill the Bermuda but not the st Augustine

Be considerate of your neighbors also, I doubt that they would appreciate your bermuda grass encroaching their lawns Also, depending on what village you are in there are restrictions that do not allow changing the type of grass you have.

St Augustine is very thick when healthy. No need for a combination. Not sure but I thought I read you need arc approval to change the type of grass in your yard. Even if that’s not the case they might have a good answer to your question.

My neighbor put in some Bermuda grass and it took over ALL his St. Augustine grass to where now it's all Bermuda and looks like crap.

Probably not a good idea. Also, remember Bermuda doesn't do well in the shade.

The OP's question involved Bermuda. and St. Augustine.
Neither his question or my reply mentioned Zoisa Grass.
Enjoy your popcorn!

Another my lawn can take your lawn thread. There is no such thing as a perfect lawn plant, they all have issues. What we insist on growing, does not exist anywhere in nature.

If, you introduce another type of grass, you will end up with different types of grass in different parts of your lawn, whichever does better with less water or more shade or.......will overpower some other variety. You will not end up with the mixed lawn some seem to hope for. Your neighbor. If, you introduce a different grass, it will not stay in, on your property. Essentially, planting weeds that will spread onto your neighbor's lawn.

If, your lawn does not look well, truly simple, discover what you are doing wrong.
Adding another problem, a new problem is likely not the solution.

I guess I am not sure what it is that is consuming your life. We have St Augustine and although I am not a huge fan it is low maintenance. It gets cut by my landscaper, gets sprayed every other month and it I see a dead spot when I am down I rake out the dead stuff and it grows back. Also it is watered once a week in the winter and twice in the summer. I go six months without seeing it and it is fine.

They look nothing alike. My lawn guy has been trying to get rid of it.

All you people throwing shade (no pun intended) on Bermuda grass but you hit your approach shots off of it and putt on it!
