Not so. Unfortunately they put their lives in the hands of strangers driving heavy vehicles. That's why I gave it up.
Too many bad drivers.
Too many drivers using cell phones while driving.
Too many ignorant drivers who think the bicyclist is supposed to stay in the right-most 3 feet, so it is invisible to people ahead on the right trying to turn onto the roadway, and so cars can try to squeeze between it and the lane boundary.
Too many people who think they have a right to have their dog run free and chase bicyclists.
Too many jerks who think the best place to throw a beer bottle is out the car window.
Too many impatient motorists.
Too many old people on meds that make them drowsy or lightheaded or faint.
Too many drunks.

You telling me YOU would ride a bike in the middle of the right lane on BV? I understand the reasoning but that takes some cojones

Cyclists generally know the laws for legally riding bicycles on roads. Unfortunately it's the majority of people in automobiles who fail to know what to do when they encounter cycler(s). Please slow down and move over, far away to the other lane when it's safe.:pray: They're after all trying to stay in shape and enjoy safe cycling.

I'm a proud Florida Cracker and I have no idea what you are talking about.

One of my neighbors lost sight in one eye and was driving from PA every year with just one eye!, and that too is legal in Florida. To take it even further, what about all the early dementia patients here!
So the best one can do here in Fl. is exercise a good amount of due diligence when on the road. I love bicycling and I refuse to give up something I love because of what MAY happen.

Thats why we mountain bike. Only other riders and trees to worry about. lol

You must be right. Oh, wait, I live on a golf course. So yes, when I play the hole I live on, I even drive my cart up on my lawn to get a drink from my refrigerator. Yep---no respect for private property:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:
