Default Golf Car

I am sure that this type of thread has appeared before but asking for any advice in buying a golf cart. We will be purchasing in the next few weeks and wondering if folks want to advise on a dealer (service AND sales).....what to look for, etc.

We are not golfers and this will be transportation for us.

Thanks

Lots of options out there. Went through the same thing. Biggest decision is electric or gas. Electric is clean, quiet and convenient. Just plug it in to recharge. Limitation is battery life. We rented before buying and had a house on Augustine near Spanish Springs with an electric cart. Played golf at Mallory, toured south end villages, had dinner at Lake Sumter Landing and had an adventure just barely getting back to Augustine Dr. Gas carts are noisy but you get great range. We opted for gas as the Villages keep getting bigger and we take the cart everywhere with fuel to spare.

There are great deals if you shop. You've got to be quick when a good used cart deal pops up. Make sure tires are in compliance with golf course regs. We settled on a new Yamaha from Village Cart. I little more than others but, generally fair. Our experience has been that sometimes they can be very busy and forget the valued customer thing when servicing. They get a little cavalier and act as though they're doing you a favor and don't need your business because they have so much, but, whenever I had a problem, my sales agent usually found a way to get it solved. Generally satisfied with them.

Good luck.

We have been in Florida for about 11+ years. We like to replace golf carts rather than batteries so we have had three EZGO carts. All electric. Great carts and service is available from a local dealer as well as a factory service center here nearby. Electric will make friends for you. Nobody complains about noise and smell when you drive by their house or drive through a tunnel in front of them. Believe me, whoever said that the gas carts are poluters was absolutely correct. As for the Villages growing, there is no place in TV that an electric can't get you there and back. The people who complain about their range are the people who are riding around on 5 year old batteries or who do not plug the cart into the charger each and every evening so that it will be in top charge condition the next morning. Get gas - go fast and drop friends.

We throw our support to Golf Cart Connection at Spruce Creek. You get a custom cart with a good warranty for a good price. With the excetion of the frame, which is reused and reconditioned, everything is new as selected by the buyer. Drop in and check them out - no pressure and everyone we talked to was helpful and friendly. Check out their web site at http://www.golfcartconnection.com/index3.htm

Cliff, We were in the EZGO factory showroom the other day. Like you, we like the ezgos. The dealer however told us that 66% of the carts he is selling now are gas. Also the new gas ezgos are ultra quiet, drive one, I thought that they were as quiet as an electric while running at top speed. My wife wears a hearing aid and found that she was able to carry on a conversation. The one that we drove had some type of noise suppressor on it. EZGO says in their literature that they have the quietest gas carts on the market. And by the way most of the people who were driving by my home in Duval the other day were driving gas, and they are welcome to stop by anytime.

We are not full-timers yet but everytime we come to TV we rent a cart and drive the heck out of it. We have only found gas to rent. Anyone know of someone that rents electric carts? Seems to be the only was to decide. We have been studing for a year and still don't know gas or electric. Thanks for any advice. ???

Whatever you buy just don't go to K&H on 27/441. They are obnoxious and they don't service what they sell.

We like electric, cleaner, quieter. Our golf car is a 2 seater and 10 yrs old. We have decided to buy a electric 4 seater (grandchildren you know) and we are installing solar to charge the batteries. We are going GREEN

When we were at TV this summer we rented an electric car from the EZ Go dealer for a week to check out electric, we had previously rented gas models. It was nice, but slowed on the hills. We eventually went with an electric ParCar car and will pick it up this December. Everyone we spoke with who had one of these seemed pleased with them.
