Thumbs down Block Parties in the Villages?

I hear about TheVillages being Florida's friendliest hometown, just from the ad but from the villager people themselves. Does anyone have any hometown style block parties here?

Yep. We party at least twice a month. Last night we all went together on golf carts to see Christmas decorations.

A dozen of our neighbors recently gathered in our driveway to watch the recent shuttle launch. Everyone contributed something for the snack table and we talked for a couple of hours after. A nice evening and a remarkable sight.

Every week there's a block party in our neighborhood in TV. Everyone takes turns hosting and it's pot luck. Very friendly neighborhood. The men meet for breakfast once a month and the women meet for lunch once a month, as well.

You will also see many pictures in The Sun of the various block parties that are so very popular in TV.

I think you just have to be the one to get out there and either invite others to join you....or ask if there is one started....I also see MANY neighborhood meetings and gatherings in the paper...or hear on the radio....

Might be worth just knocking on the doors of the neighbors....i

If there is not one already.....perhaps print an invite and drop at every door....

Just a thought.....and have seen others doing so successfully!!!

Good luck and have fun....

If you can't find anyone in your own neighborhood...seems that Hadley is pretty busy and I bet would be more than welcoming to new folks.....

Kath, GG, 16 and a few others (i think)....wouldn't you agree!!!

We have an amazing street! We do couple's golf on sundays and men's golf on tuesdays and women's golf on fridays. We have pink flamingos about once a month. We do dine-ins and dine-outs. In the summertime, we meet thursday evenings at one of our two cul de sacs for an informal cocktail chat session to watch the sun go down. At Christmas we have all decorated our homes with electric circular trees plus decorations in our two cul de sacs. We were so lucky to have found our house here.

Default Yes

Yes, the neighborhoods are very different.
If someone is looking to buy, they should look at whether they want a close friendly street or one which will be leaving you to yourself.

Smile Yup!

Being in a newer area, we just started our block parties in October and they are monthly. We're also planning other activities. The guys started a breakfast club, etc. I found out we have wonderful neighbors. Who knew! We were all too busy moving in. It's a great community.

JimJoe:

I've seen stories in the paper about folks who gather in somebody's driveway every week. My street has been doing monthly parties for at least a couple of years. Some times just in the street, sometimes in someone's house, sometimes at the neighborhood pool, sometimes at the rec center, and sometimes away from TV altogether! (Our December gathering was for dinner at Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora). We have lots of fun and usually at least 20 of the 28 residents on our cul-de-sac.

I lived on a "closed," private street up north. We got together twice a year, and almost never knew everyone. Here, we've even had a joint party with folks on adjoining streets.

You just cannot beat TV for its social life!

Coming down for New Years and looking to see if any block parties are planned in the Hadley Village community around Saffron Lane and its courtyard villa residents.
