Some of those awarded are so sad about the stories they tell of people's actions. Most of the Villagers though have kids and grandkids so they are no longer really Darwin Award candidates. These mean people who cut off their ability to procreate in some way was the impression I got.

Did they have on their aluminum hats? They probably thought they were grounded.

When you see the lightening each second till you hear the thunder is a mile. If the strike was 800 yards away it would be less than 1/2 a second before you heard the lightening.

Close, but no cigar. Each second represents 1100 feet. It takes five seconds for sound to travel a mile.

In the artillery we used 350 meters per second for flash-to-bang.
