briar meadows
we are looking to move to tv in the near future. Have looked at all the new houses and used, either through the villiages or msl. We have found a few houses that we really like in the Brair Meadows area, near the Lopez golf course. We know that this is considered the fartherest area in tv, but my question is from there how long does it take to get to either of the squares from there by golf cart? also as the area was built in 2003 plus or minus, would we have trouble making friends etc. Do most of the area still have groups that play golf, get together or are they past that? Thanks a lot

I would say from the area you are looking at, by cart, 20+/- minutes to Spanish Springs, 35 +/- to Lake Sumter, maybe an hour to get to Brownwood. By car, 10 minutes to SS, 15 to SL and 40 minutes to Brownwood. These are just estimates... maybe somebody can gie more accurate times. Actually, The Villages started in the early 1980's, not 2003. You won't have trouble making friends, hence the nickname of "Americas Friendliest Hometown". And there are hundreds of groups that play golf together.

I live in Woodbury right next to Briar Meadows. We often go to Spanish Springs and it takes about 15-20 minutes by golf cart. A little longer to go to Lake Sumpter Landing. We go to both and enjoy the relaxing ride. We are not full time residents yet, and only get down a few times a year, so we have not taken the cart yet to Brownswood. We have friends that live in that area and if we want to get there quickly by car, we go down Rt. 301 and it is about 25 minutes if that. As far as making friends...our neighborhood is about ten years old...the neighbors have been very friendly whenever we have been down to TV. Other friends have told us that most of their friends are from the clubs, social groups, volunteer organizations and churches they belong to, so we shall see when we move full time in about 6 months.

We just moved to Briar Meadow about 5 months ago and love it. Quiet yet close to everything. Neighbors are great and as friendly as any other neighborhood. Just take a walk and you'll meet them, or go to their quarterly get togethers to meet them. Just zip out on SR 42 to either 301 or 27/441 if prefer to use the car. Golf cart rides are about what everyone is saying. No place is bad in TV.......it all depends on what is important to you.

Lived in Piedmont for a year and now we live in Chatham. Basically right next door to Briar Meadows. As many have said, 15-20 minutes to SS, 25 to LSL. We have made the drive to Brownwood and it took about 50 minutes. Love it here because it is MUCH more quiet and still get anywhere easily.
