Living in The Villages without a golf cart is like living without sunshine. A golf cart is much of the experience and is a necessity. You'll own one within three months.

Those of us who choose not to have a golf cart kind of lurk in the background and keep it quiet. At the risk of being lambasted... we've been here since late 2011, don't have a golf cart, don't want one. I like the safety of car doors and air bags. I like the a/c in the summer and heat when needed in the winter. We don't play golf.

I like the idea of spending the $1200 to a/c your truck if you get down here and can't take the heat. Maybe it won't bother you and you won't even have to spend that $.

When I lived in D.C. i had a hot 375 hp 396 Camaro convertible without AC, power steering or power brakes and got by just fine. One adjusts to the temperature and humidity wherever one resides - given time.

laceylady, I'm with CFrance on this. A cart came with our house but we'll often go 3-4 weeks without using it. We added seatbelts but it still feels a bit unsafe to me. My primary objection is the heat, though. I don't enjoy a hot, muggy outing, "breezy" or not.

Your comfort level is not mine, but I think a car without A/C would only be usable here maybe 18 weeks out of the year.

What about a golf cart makes folks feel unsafe'? There are many more car accidents then golf cart accidents.Jmo

bring the truck use it for a year if it doesn't work then sell it...how much do you need two cars? are you still working.

Unless you have a sentimental attachment to the truck, I would get rid of it. I notice you are from Washington state. I imagine it will cost you more than the truck is worth to ship it to TV. Although a truck would be a valuable asset quite often when you get to TV, there are thousands of us that don't have one and manage to survive. I know I missed my truck when I got rid of it several years ago, but I survived. It had AC, but that quit working about 5 years before I GAVE it away. We lived in Virginia and it was quite warm and humid there in the summer also. I got used to not having AC and if you decide to bring your truck, I'm sure you will adjust also. Just determine whether the truck is worth the cost to ship.

I was raised in Jax, Fl. and most of my cars never had A/C and I survived.

People drive golf carts and they are not air-conditioned so I do not know what the big deal is. Just leave the windows open when you drive.

When I am not with my wife I usually turn the A/C off and open the windows.

I miss having two cars ........... have one and a golf cart, the golf cart is great for golf, hate it for traveling even just around TV. I have to take the golf cart once in a while to get wherever, but never really feel safe in it - call it my plastic sardine can.
