Wow....thanks for the information. We are closing on our house in Cincinnati on 29 Jul and since I read these posts I have also confirmed with our realtor that we will get the discount. Thank you so much. We have a lot in Tamarind Grove and will start building the first week of August. Look forward to meeting all the neighbors. :)

Tamarind Grove,too

Thanks to all the people making us aware of the upcoming discount!! You are awesome. We are scheduled to meet with the design team Sunday, yes, in 2 days!!! We thought that maybe we needed to request the 4% discount or ask for a coupon or something out of the ordinary, but our salesperson assured us that yes indeed we get it. He was going to surprise us, but we did check with him yesterday.
We are building in Tamarind Grove and will soon be Grovers! Our house in Maryland has not sold, but we are continuing the build hoping that it won't be on the market much longer.
We are so excited to get the building started and to pick out everything. It is certainly something to look forward to and to meet everyone at the pool!!!!
It has been so hot in the Annapolis area (103 today) we can't wait to get to Florida to cool off.:cold:

:welcome:The neighborhood has so many homes now. You probably won't recognize it. Good luck on your build. Hope your house sells soon. The pool is lovely. If you are going to be here Aug 1, TG is having a social get together.

stockmanl 07-22-2011 12:26 PM

Can you tell me more about the TG get together? We will be arriving 31 Jul and would like to meet more of the neighbors. Thanks.

It's 5:30, Aug 1 at Fish Hawk Recreaton Center. They request you bring your own beverage and "finger food" to share. Hope to see you there.

Interesting concept. All of the marketing gurus must be pitching what I think of as a "spending gauntlet"-- although I'm sure they don't call it that.

Think about it. How many stores to do go to where you have to walk through a maze of impulse-item displays before you get to the check-out register. Grocery stores have always had impulse items at checkout, but now stores have a literal maze of items you have to walk through to check out.

Needing an appointment with the Design Center to get the 4 percent discount is like that too. Look at and discuss with our professionals every single upgrade available for your home and you'll get a four percent discount. I wonder how many people who make those appointments with the Design Center leave spending more rather than less than they expected before they got their discount.

I'm not knocking it. It's good marketing. And you are getting somethign of value for your money.

But understanding the game before you go in could save you some dough.

I'm just saying.

Pturner - good reasoning. It definitely sounds like a good marketing tactic.

I hope others don't get confused because of the negative attitude of your comments. You can't build a home in TV WITHOUT using the design center to pick out your various color choices at the minimum. Its a FREE service and you get to walk into a model home that has the color of the counter top you're picking out etc. Here is the link to understanding this very simple concept http://www.thevillages.com/newslette.../home-site.htm

If, because of the discount, they take the tile option for $1200, or stretch their garage two feet for the same price when they might not have before, what business is that of yours. I think TV is doing something good not bad.

That said, those that did not get the discount shouldn't begrudge those that will. Be happy for them instead.

I am not sure Pt's post was meant to be negative. It was more like a "heads up". It is easy to get carried away with some marketing ploys. There is a lot of money to be made in upgrades.

One of the purposes of this forum is to make suggestions and comments to help people. It is difficult to do that without "minding someones business".

Pturner 07-24-2011 01:44 PM

Downeaster, thanks. You are right about the intent of my post.

Someone that indicates her occupation as a "Marketing Consultant" and has over 4500 posts on this site since October of 2009 ( that's an average of 182 per month, or six a day ) beats a drum in many directions in my mind.

I started this thread to alert those that were building or thinking about building to a 4% discount if they did it North of 466A, and before September 30. It helped those it was intended for and I'm happy for my effort. Bless them for their savings, period.

Jim Starz - Re-read the quote I took from PT's post. Not only is she not being negative she says "getting something of value". How in the world do you read that as "negative attitude of her comments".

No one already in TV is going to begrudge new comers from saving any amount of money.

And who cares how many posts per day she makes. You think she's making money on it somehow? Go read her other 4500 posts and tell me one time where PT wasn't caring or didn't try to help someone else etc. She's a great TOTVer and even more impressive when you get to know her in person.

PLEASE!

jojo 07-24-2011 03:04 PM

Agree with Russ. I know her too.

jackz 07-24-2011 03:10 PM

I'm with Russ.................
