Boogie Shooter gets the prize.....he beat me to it. I installed the Chamberlin Laser parking assists in my two garages this last year. They are great.
You can install two on one opener if you like for a two car garage, and they are adjustable if you change cars, etc.

Nothing on the floor to trip on, (a REAL hazard) and nothing to sweep around, etc. Also better then a tennis ball that you hit your head on whenever the car is not in the garage.

These lasers only have two small low voltage wires that attach to your opener. Takes about 3 minutes to install. Easy and cool and safe.

What is the cost of the laser system vs the tennis ball?

We use the tennis ball hanging from the ceiling to the windshield. Works great and cheap. One neighbor hangs a pillow on his utility door to cushion if he goes in too far.

Bumpers on the garage floor may save your washer and dryer after an evening of a few adult beverages with good friends.

I have an outlet on the wall on the passenger side. I just pull up until the outlet aligns with the passenger side door handle and I know I am in the correct spot.

So many ways. I put a small 2X4 on floor where tire will hit it. Some of the ideas will not work in all garages. Ceiing too high; doors to heaters in front of car, etc. Try putting a shelf in line to sight the right place. Use what is best for YOU.
