Default 10% tax increase

According to today's Daily Sun it seems as though the proposed 25% tax increase is now a 10% tax increase. HOORAY! FINGERS CROSSED

Come on, please. I would be concerned if it was a 25% increase coming at me but since it wasn't at me I can see clearly the 25% number is purely a setup to ease you into a number that is big but not the entire Enchilada as stated.

Urban Ledgen, Cruel Rumors Spread By Victorious People With Nothing Else To Do! Pinheads! I just hope it's a whole lot less for our fellow Villagers. Even 20% would suck. People came here to live not to be slaves to home-related things.

If the increase is excessive goodbye to the officials in office now, Out You Go. As Punishment, They Should Be Shipped To N.J. or N.Y. till they learn their lesson's.

OP, clearly states “according to the Daily Sun it seems as though”.... So it sounds like it’s more opinion than actual fact.

You absolutely have that correct. Whoever started the 25% RUMOR should be publically embarrassed at the Town Square in the Manner Chosen by the People who were upset the most. That would be the people who are struggling to survive in this beautiful place. I can see where this wouldn't be fun or educational for some long, long-time residents to participate on here any longer because some have a problem with Fact Vs Fiction and they feel like they don't need links and proof for everything. Just a healthy give and take of information just like the old days.

There are many Old Timers who can't digest information as well as they could when they were young and they are super upset by the Big Number!

Misinformation temporarily ruins peoples lives and even makes them consider talking about taking their lives. Luckily it's not me or mine and we are there for several people who suffer and verbalize their thoughts. I feel for these people. I feel even worse for those who don't talk about upsetting things like this. It is a DISGRACE that that number was published until it became a fact.

The information is on pages C-6 and C-7 of today's Daily Sun on the bottom half of both pages of the Local News insert.

Reading comprehension..... not everyone's strong suit.
The OP stated - "According to today's Daily Sun it seems as though the proposed 25% tax increase is now a 10% tax increase."
That to me indicates he/she read it..... I asked what page.

I may be wrong but the only tax item I read in today's "SUN" was what appears to be a legal notice about Fruitland Park taxes.

The conversation has been on Sumter Co. taxes and you are talking Fruitland Park taxes. You must be a little confused.... no problem. Happens as we get older. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't me.....this time!

I didn’t see anything in the Daily Sun today about the proposed Sumter County property tax increase of 25%.

There is a Notice on page C6 that states THE CITY OF FRUITLAND PARK has proposed to increase it’s property tax levy to $2.93 million compared to the current $2.66 million.
Is this the 10% tax increase you are referencing?

25% anywhere for anything all at one time is way too much.
