Default Cable Question

Have xfinity but not really happy with dvr user interface. Do any of the Villages cable providers use TIVO dvrs?

Thanks

We have been a Tivo family for almost 20 years. No comparison to the clunky UIs in the units that the cable companies give you. Unfortunately, you can't get a Tivo from Xfinity or Spectrum. You have to either buy one from Tivo, an authorized dealer (Best Buy used to sell them, don't know if they still do), or buy a used one on eBay.

You may or may not be aware that you need to rent a cable card from your cable provider for each Tivo device (we currently have two Tivo's plus a Tivo Mini.) Once you have one Tivo you can add Tivo Mini's for other rooms which do not require a cable card but also have no storage. They connect through your regular Tivo.

Also, you have to pay for a monthly subscription to Tivo OR buy a "lifetime subscription" which refers to the lifetime of the device, NOT your lifetime. You can sometimes find good deals on Tivo's WITH lifetime on eBay.

If you have any other questions about Tivo I am happy to try to answer them. WE LOVE TIVO which is the main reason we won't switch from Xfinity to one of those cheaper streaming services.
