I just love it when The Villagers give such positive views on subjects that could go in the opposite direction.. Just another reason why we all chose this wonderful place to retire in....

When we moved here in 2010 we carefully checked the rules and laws regarding RV parking. On the public roads (in front of your house) you can park for up to 72 hours for loading/unloading and general maintenance like washing/waxing.
We park our 36 foot motor home at our house for these purposes only, and have never exceeded the 3 day guideline. No one ever sleeps in it, and we keep it plugged in to charge the batteries, keep the fridge cold, and run the A/C while loading. We don't run the generator except for a brief test.
When we have friends with motor homes visiting, they always stay at local campgrounds, never in front of our house. I agree that "Cousin Eddies Real RV" does not belong in any of our neighborhoods.
Most of our neighbors have accepted our lifestyle and always have questions about where we are off to next. Our street is used as a "cut through" to avoid a traffic light and I suppose some of those folks are upset about having to slow down, but I view that as a side benefit.
I fully agree with the positive attitude expressed in this thread. That's the approach our neighbors have taken and I hope it is supported everywhere in our great community.

Very good explanation as far as what is involved in general maintenance every now and then of a recreational vehicle, whether it be a camper or a boat......they need seasonal maintenance......and closer to the homeowner's driveway is the easiest........... my hubby just moved his boat into our driveway which I'm sure is an eyesore to some, but most don't really care or have never said anything........just like we don't say anything about all of their trucks and vehicles parked in their driveways.

I doubt if Walmart lets one hook up to their power, etc. although in our town we do see people using Walmart to "overnight". Driving back and forth to Walmart to do seasonal maintenance would be a pain.

What local campgrounds can you recommend?

Also where to store an RV?

The Villages has two RV storage lots, one located on El Camino Real and the other near the woodworking shop off Rolling Acres.

There are several privately owned storage businesses. One is on route 466 near route 301. Another is located south from that one on route 301 maybe a half mile. There are a few others off Rt.441/27.

Alliance RV is on Route 44 very near the new Brownswood Town Square. It's a great place to get work done on the RV if you need it and it also has a campground (last I heard, $20 a night) and RV Storage.

If it stays there just for the Easter weekend then I would say let it go. But if it stays there longer then what is considered reasonable then I would approach the home owner and covey to them that it is difficult transversing the road with the camper parked in it. If he takes action no problem if he doesn't I would notify Community Watch to have it moved. We all decided to live here because of the uniqueness and to some extent the uniformity of this place and for me I was really taken in by how neat and orderly things are in all the villages. If we ease up and allow this kind of stuff to happen we will lose those ammenities that brought us here. I believe in my village the rules state that you can't park an RV in the road. :spoken:

An RV is allowed in the road for 72 hours IF it doesn't hinder an emergency vehicle ( firetruck ) from passing without going on the lawn. In a Villa area no way. If a shore line is hooked to the house power and people are living in the unit then it is NOT legal and is a violation and deed compliance can get envolved. This was posted in the POA paper a few months back. I'm not at home so I can't give you the date. I know it's holiday time and guests are visiting and I'm not a hard a-- but the other day there was another post concerning which rules we pick to see enforced. Anyway HAPPY EASTER everyone!!
