Default Can we have mail delivered to our post office box?

Example... if we gave as an address:

Box 0000
Hillsborough Postal Station
The Villages, FL 32163

Sometimes we deal with people/organizations, etc that we prefer not to know our house address.

Is this do-able?

No. For these organizations, you must rent a PO box somewhere - either at the Lady Lake PO or at a UPS store or some other provider who can rent you a PO box. then give these organization that PO box address. Good luck ... sounds like a PIA.

It's easy to rent a box at a Post Office. I think most offices have boxes that you can rent. You may be able to get one in Wildwood or Fruitland Park.

If they already have your real name and town, it's pretty easy these days on the internet...to get your physical address.

So even if you do decide to get a post office box, I wouldn't count on it in maintaining your complete anonymity...if that's their intent and they're serious about it.

We had a PO Box last year, rented at Wildwood Post Office. Our mail was delivered there for eight months while we were out of The Villages. A friend collected it for us every week or so.

When I retired and decided to travel for a couple of years, I set up a box at Mailboxes USA and if knew I would be somewhere for a couple of weeks...would call them to forward all my mail to a local address (often another Mailboxes USA).

If I recall, for a small fee they would throw away the junk mail and only forward (therefore I only paid for)...legitimate mail.

Agree with above post. If someone wants your address, it's very easily obtainable.

You can also get a post office box at a UPS Store. If there is one near you it might be more convenient than going to the Post Office.

Be aware that when/if you decide to close a THE UPS STORE PMB the US Post Office will not forward that mail to your new address since it isn't a registered street address. You'll have to have the UPS STORE person do it for you (for a fee). Same for any Private Mail Box operation. The good part of a PMB is they will also accept UPS and Fedex where USPS won't.

A USPS PO BOX is cheap, about $60/yr at Lady Lake (probably same in Wildwood) and you can set it up online. USPS will also send you scanned photos of all your mail as it comes in (for free) the morning of delivery if you sign up for "Informed Delivery" feature. It saves trips to the PO or your TV mail station. I find it about 95% accurate.
