Cardio Drumming
 

It will all most likely end once cardio drumming is allowed to resume at the rec centers in the near future. I, for one am grateful for the opportunity to participate in cardio drumming in the neighborhoods for now.

I agree. If non-essential noise woke me up at 0800, I'd be ticked off too. I am never up that early. How incredibly RUDE! If they can do it in the garage, why can't they do it INSIDE their homes? I can understand construction or lawn maintenance noise as workers have no choice and have to do their jobs, making a living. Drumming is not a necessary outdoor activity and is loud and very annoying to most people. Then they have the nerve to tell others to put in ear plugs if they don't like it or refuse to change to a less ridiculous time? Nothing right about such appalling behavior - Beyond rude! :shocked:

I hear it’s a terrific cardio workout. Why don’t you join them.

Drumming for and hour to great music, fit ladies wearing colorful spandex (woo-hoo !) enjoying each other’s company, working earnestly at staying physically fit in order to fulfill The Villages lifestyle ( that’s the reason we’re all here). There’s always Lots more noise from a sequence all day of different landscaping company’s mowing lawns, weed whacking, and blowers going anywhere from 7am to 7pm. There’s a lot more going on in the USA at this time to be concerned about! Enjoy life here, join the fun!:MOJE_whot:

Fact check - instructor was never asked to change the time of day. Drumming started at 8:30 and during that one hour probably only actually drummed 30-45 minutes - it is not constant drumming like it was described

My was said it was disgusting after she was told supposedly they had permission to do the cardio drumming and that it would be happening every day going forward.

i am the wife..i didnt like idea no notice it was happening..it affected our sleep..with alot of neighbors not home for various reasons..i felt we werent an intregal part of decision of time and not holding it elsewhere where it would not affect the neighbors..very inconsiderate ... that is why i said i was disgusted

By the way my husband forgot to mention the megaphone that was used to relay instructions.

Take away the sticks and replace them with long Q-Tips, sorry SWABS, like they use for Covid testing.

I can hear pickle ball, and not even near any court., and it goes on from 8 am to dusk. Yet I don’t go out and confront those playing.

I am guessing the cardio drumming is made up of your neighbors. Since the rec centers are closed some are trying to get as much exercise as they can. Once the rec centers are open they will move back. 40 minutes out of life shouldn’t be a big deal.

The guy in our old neighborhood who had a full wood shop in his garage and started up his power saw At 7AM ran it until about five, with multiple men stopping in to use the multiple machines, was far more Inconsiderate. And yet there’s nothing you can do, we moved.

Bonus this is temporary, I get it most older people sleep more hours than say the more active Younger resident. I get up everyday at 3am after sleeping about 4 hours. I want to enjoy as much of the day as I can

Non-essential noise is a big deal to me.

If you all enjoy drumming the the cardio effects it affords you, by all means drum away, just not outside in a quiet neighborhood. That is just not neighborly, especially early in the morning.

Why can’t they put a towel on the Drums.

I have to agree enough said - just get your facts correct - there was no megaphone used. We do have a sound system. But you might want to keep your voice down when you are on the phone since I heard every word you said in describing what we were doing. Not sure where you got the idea that we would be doing it every day - we have done at least 25 drumming sessions throughout the villages and this was the first time in Summerhill and the first complaint we have had. We were almost finished before you even decided to come out to complain. We tried to explain why we couldn’t use the locations you suggested calmly but I don’t think you heard what we were saying. I apologize for disturbing your morning and hope to be back in the rec centers soon - this is just a temporary solution to be able to continue to exercise. I also checked with VCDD and I know that we were well within compliance of deed restrictions - not sure we would even be able to come to a compromise that would work for both parties so as you said - enough said

Since can't use inside of rec center, how about rec center parking lot next to tennis or pickle ball court? If there are complaints there then maybe the neighbors who don't like it may have a point.
