Default Careful Driving

As Community Watch has removed the gate arms because of Dorian, let’s remember to STOP before passing through!! Obviously stop signs were not placed there because they could become projectiles but we all know we are supposed to stop.

On my walk today I saw cars and carts flying through the gate areas without even touching the brake.

Let’s all be careful and courteous!

I wish that they would remove all the gates and stop wasting our money on maintaining these phone barriers. We don't need to be paying people to sit in those little shelters and wave at us either.

They do work in slowing down the speeders and i like that they take photos of each vehicle just in case.

Nope. How many times to some people have to hear the same thing explained to them? Gates are needed.

There are many communities that do not have gates. And, some of them may be keeping their one rec center open longer than TV did. Happiness awaits.

My wife and I were in our cart crossing, from south to north, Hillsborough Trail at the Morse-Hillsborough MMP crossing. We immediately noticed that having no gate arms was dangerous because as we carefully moved into the crossing, a car came off Morse and came through the "open gate" without even slowing down. Had I not been moving slowly and carefully, we could have easily been in an unfortunate accident. The gate arms do two things. One is they slow down auto's and trucks, even requiring them to stop before the gate arm goes up. Two, is they give the cart driver a visual sign that the way is potentially clear if the gate is down; danger if it is up.

Post # 1 tells you why gates are necessary. Without them the carnage at these sites with golf cart crossings would be significant.

It costs us a few bucks a year. They slow down traffic and are very helpful to law enforcement.
