Car or not?
Since we still not Villagers, can't answer the original question.
But, We're planning to be a one cart, one car family of two. I am glad to see so many people who have responded have just one car and one cart. We were not too sure at first. Anyway to get off topic, for those having just a car and a cart, do you still need more garage space if you have a 20 x 19 ft garage? We have a packed garage now and a big walk in attic. (the space over our big garage) My better half says off with their heads and no more junk to keep! :cryin2: |
Two carts, one car. We put very little mileage on the car. Wish they had ZipCars at the mailboxes. Then I might get rid of the car.

Sorry must answer this question so short hijack!
If the "ole boy" had his way, he would scrap all the furniture out to the curb and make the house one big garage to keep all of his "boy toys" locked away BUT he has the pleasure of living with me???? sooooo that is NOT an option..tee hee!.

My next door neighbor bought a cart and got rid of his car a couple of years ago. This was after seven years with no cart! If he needs to go any place close to TV he calls a cab. He seldom asks any of us for a ride but we do offer our services for medical trips, etc.
He figures that with the money he saves from car insurance, maintenance, etc, he can afford to rent a car if he needs to go any place for an extended amount of time. But I will have to add that except for 3 month cruises once a year he does not go many places outside of TV. It is not something I could do. When we got to TV and got all of our pickup needs taken care of I sold my truck and now have one car and a cart. We need the car because we don't want to be confined to TV. We like going to Ocala and other places to have fun and adventure. |
Hint on rental car ins.....

On-topic response: I know of no one who only has golf cart transportation.
Slightly off-topic response: We are a two-car, one cart family, although with a bit of planning and coordinating we might get by with one car and one golf cart. More off-topic response: We find that we opt for car transportation over golf cart transportation far more than I originally thought we would. It's just much easier, more comfortable, and faster to run errands by car rather than golf cart. We use our golf cart primarily for golfing, an occasional jaunt to Sumter Landing (but never to Spanish Springs - takes too long from Hemingway) and occasional joy rides, but that's about it. |
NJblue already said what I would say and said it better.

Here is a company which does car sharing. My daughter's college campus has this available http://www.zipcar.com/

Great Topic. My wife and I have been discusing this topic now for a few months. Since we are still in the dreaming stage, we do not have to rush our decision...I was leaning towrdes 2 carts no car. After reading everybodys posts, I now lean to 1 car & 1 cart. I guess i started to have tunnel vision dreaming of the villages and forgot that there is other things to do outside TV. Never said I was the brightest...

I think if we find that we just aren't taking it out more then once every couple of months... it's time to dump it. But who knows.... *shrugs* |
As snowflakes, we drive down in a car and keep a golf cart at our TV home. When we become frogs, we'll sell our second car and buy a second cart. No car? No way.
