Great business move Mr. Morse limit access to your competitors (banks, groceries, assisted living etc.) But the people who only have golf cart access to their jobs (3 of which I know personally) or the other golf cart only people who will have to change doctors or pay higher prices at the village stores are probably not so thrilled with your business decision. I would assume that the businesses affected by this will probably have their lawyers looking at how the Florida laws pertain to your decision early next week. I guess there is no such thing as a benign dictator no big surprise to me but a lot of disappointed people here on the historic side.

Illegal to use a street legal golf cart on 441
"Default Golf path closing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looks like those that want to continue using the portion of the path that is cut off will need to purchase a street legal golf cart. The fine for crossing without using a street legal cart is $250. Also the section between Walmart and Aldi's will remain open and be improved the last I heard. Seems silly to inconvenience 70K people just to keep 1000 Stonecrest residence from coming into the Villages via this opening. " I believe a street legal golf cart can not go on any road where the speed limit is above 35 MPH. Even if that was true you are assuming that people can afford them. I do not know how many villagers in the Historic side, or the other side can. It is very easy for someone who has the convenience of a car(s), to tell others how to resolve their problems. From what I have read, it doesn't appear that other than one villager, has any one made an offer to assist those who do not have a car - no matter what the reason. Are we the "Friendly Villagers" who help each other out? |
Street legal carts aren't going to help. You can't drive them on 441/27

I agree with what you're saying, Vicar, but it would be a logistical nightmare for people on the Historic side to be transporting people around every time they needed a loaf of bread or had a doctor's appointment, or had to get to work every day. It sounds good on paper, but I would be surprised if it is sustainable.
For whatever reason the wall was built (and I don't know what that is), it is too bad for the people on the historic side who have counted on that passage for so long. |

Many others chose doctors and other health care professionals in that medical center based on the fact that they could get there in their golf cart. Those people have been shut off from their health care professionals. There is also an urgent care facility there. Many people in this area may have made the decision to buy a house knowing that that golf cart route was there. This is a lot bigger than your favorite restaurant being closed. |

It is doubtful that the wall was constructed by anyone other then the Villages. Also as has been noted in another post, it's not trespassing if you are allowed to do it. In fact, I have been told that the owners of the new assisted living facility have gone out of their way to make it easy for golf carts to get to and go through their property. |
Dr. Winston, please call one of the representatives, it doesn't matter who, with the HOA and voice your concerns and ask the person you call what is going on.

This coming week will be very interesting to see what happens. ALOT of phone calls and ALOT of letters being written. I have already sent my complaint in, not that it will do any good.
|
With whom did you voice a complaint? A member of the HOA? It will help. Think positive.

I hear there is a resident meeting monday morning at the Spanish Springs Town Square, in front of the radio station.....

Not sure it's worth the effort, but perhaps if enough emails go into the Editor of the Daily Sun they will cover this...wouldn't hurt....
