Just another cry baby whining about something insignificant.
It's just a cart path ....... at least it's not a sewer treatment facility.

Or a nuclear power plant

Perhaps the whiner is a charter member of the NIMBY club :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

The Village app sends you around the parking Loy of all the offices that are at Laurel manor and guides you to a small opening that goes off the MM path where you drive through what should be a cul de sac and takes you up into Palm golf course and out onto the MM. to go south

djbabler 03-18-2024 12:16 PM

The problem here is we are not talking about a cart (MMP) path. This is a neighborhood street with no MMP lane. The entrance and exit are nothing more than a way for that neighborhood to enter and exit the Buena Vista MMP. By cutting through this neiborhood on their streets you can save a minute or two max and avoid a couple tunnels. As time goes more and more people discover this short cut thus more and more traffic on their neighborhood street. These people DO NOT live on a cart path. They did not buy a house on a cart path. I use this route alot but may reconsider saving a minute and stay on MMP in the future.

It is a path that only golf carts, bikes and pedestrians can use. It was there when the house was built, it was there when the current owner bought in 2015, IT IS A CART PATH. They bought a house ON A CART PATH. What did they think---this is nice, our own private short cut to BV North MMP? Not every road, in fact very few have a separate cart lane, which why the speed limit is 20 in neighborhoods. And it is NOT THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD STREET. Until and unless the "neighborhood" purchases the street from Sumter County and pays to maintain it, it is a PUBLIC street with a PUBLIC ROW between those 2 houses. PERIOD. So, OK, close it off, and then all the other residents in THEIR neighborhood will have to go south to Winthrop Terrace and guess what?---cut between the two homes there to get to the MMP just past Palmer Cherry Hill #1. I don't know any other way for those residents to get to the BV MMP north. And, BTW, another poster was correct--Google Maps labels it "Cart Rd." But you are correct about one thing----now that this whiner has made a big deal about it, many more people will know about and use this route.

🤣🤣🤣

Took the cut through earlier today. A much easier way to get between Laurel Manor and Palmer than navigating Buena Vista. Learn something new every day.

Otherwise, he knew it was there when he bought the house...

I don't think it's due to expansion of TV. That cut thru is pretty far north. I would wager that not too many people south of 44 would travel that far nort via golf cart...

Oh, wait... Was that bashing those south of 44? :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

I travel to go to all the fine course by cart from Linden. Nice ride except for the small one way tunnel. Cheers

Okay... That's one... Doesn't change my post...

Why not? One whiner wants to change the direction of 54,000 carts/month. :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Dave951 03-18-2024 06:44 PM

Think about the houses on the cart path going around Turtle Mound golf course. They have lots of cart traffic. That guy has nothing to complain about

Not only does the app direct you that way, there’s a villages sign directing traffic to Laurel to go that way…

I'm not familiar with that path it runs to the Laurel Manor rec & north of 466 or to the right to MMPs that look like they might take you anywhere you want to go.

Does he have a valid complaint? Or is it a case of high season, expansion of The Villages, & general increase in cart traffic?

***news/2024/03/16/villager-counts-up-to-1800-golf-carts-per-day-using-cut-through-near-his-house/

When we moved here in 2005, most carts were electric and produced very little noise. With the expansion of the villages, gas carts became popular (we switched to gas). I’ve often wondered about those living in those homes with ā€œno houses behindā€ if they still like their choices.

jparsoneau@aol.com 03-19-2024 05:35 AM

What a joke
People buy a house next to something they don’t like and wine and complaining about it
If you don’t like where you’re buying move
You can get some good deals next to the turnpike šŸ˜†
My comment yesterday was removed. I hope this one is nicer and acceptable to TOTV šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†

MikeN 03-19-2024 05:47 AM

Really? Complaining about cart traffic in an area developed for golf carts? Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning

Harold.wiser 03-19-2024 06:16 AM

Wow, I'll bet the person that opened this can of worms is sorry they posted their complaint!
The responses offer little to no sympathy and made even more people aware of the shortcut...OOPS!!
Full disclosure: I use that path regularly myself.

And let's add some more irony to his whining:

Look at google maps----if you live in the area between Laurel Manor and Palmer east of BV, there are only 3 ways to get to the MMP---the cart ROW off Laurel Lane, which he is whining about, the ROW just north of Cherry Hill #1 green to Winthrop Terr. between 2 houses, and the south end cul-de-sac ROW of Winifred Way between 2 houses leading past the first tee of Cherry Hill. It looks like there are 5-600 homes in that area, so if they closed off HIS cut through, it would force all his "neighbors" to use one of the other two, increasing THEIR cart traffic.

Like a good neighbor, the whiner is NOT there.

I'll bet they sold and purchased a home with a kissing lanai near the turnpike.

CarlR33 03-19-2024 03:03 PM

54,000 carts a month or ~1800 per day?? Is that even possible? Dang

Jim 9922 03-19-2024 04:24 PM

1800 carts a day is about one every 30 seconds when considering a 14 hour day (7AM to 9PM). Maybe his "counting machine" is off a bit

It's just like those who bought near the turnpike and now want something done about the noise or those who bought near the railroad tracks and don't think trains should blow whistles. This clown can either shut his pie hole, buy ear plugs, or move.

So true.
People buy homes near sporting venues and complain when events happen and the lights go on (TV example; the new HS complex) or people that buy homes next to colleges/universities, many that existed well before their arrival. Do your homework and if you don’t, you own it

Been there since day one……..
I am guilty of using this route.

I also use it but it's not something new, I'm sure also that it was there when he bought the house, what about the houses on golf courses and they have golfers driving by ALL DAY!! That's how ridiculous the complaint is.... I'm thinking that's all he has to do all day is keep a chart of how many carts are driving by! I doubt I would like it either but I wouldn't agree to buy there!

Didn’t I agree?

If it's going to be a cut through for a high volume of carts they could add some speed bumps to slow those down who are late for their tee time.

My cart is governed at the speed limit and I get passed often by carts with no clubs on the back.

You speed through that entrance and your head may hit the roof. :gc:

No need. The drainage "culvert" or whatever you call it is so deep and the turn so sharp that there is no speeding there whatsoever.
