Default Cart vs. Car on Lower Odell Circle

There was a damaged car and an overturned golf cart in front of the Duval mail stop on Lower Odell Circle a little after noon today. The vehicles were still there about an hour later along with two police cars. The car was damged on the front passenger side corner and the cart was laying on its side facing east in the westbound lane of Odell. No information on injuries or what happened.

I heard the cart was struck from the rear by a car that driffted into the cart lane. The people in the cart were taken to the hospital. That is all I know.

Oh no. I hope the people involved are ok. If news reports become available on how they are doing, please let us know.

There is something about this in today's Sun...maybe the Local section. I've seen some crazy driving here this month. Yesterday...someone stopped in a round-about and just sitting there. Another thing was someone "blowing" a stop sign without even slowing down...just went through.

Default yes it is

I learned today, by observing another's car, that if you approach a south bound lane gate by driving at it going north, the gate doesn't open and there's no button to push to open it......aggh it is the season!!!!

Saturday afternoon my wife and I watched four adults in a four passenger golf cart going around the roundabout by the Caroline gate on Morse Blvd, they made at least two passes around that we knew of. Apparently they could not figure out how to get back onto the cart path where we were sitting.

Default Cart Lane

I don't mind sharing the cart lane with bikes, joggers, walkers etc. But the other day I was sharing it with a car. He came in off 466A on Canal. Must have thought it was a divided highway!!

For the life of me, I do NOT understand how people can do this. The golf cart paths are NOT at all like a city street. I've heard this happens quite a bit here. Some people who drive their golf-carts more than their cars tend to forget which vehicle they're in and sometimes might start to turn on the paths...have seen this happen but generally they "wake up" before it happens for real. Scarey to think about!!!!

Down near Colony...I've seen cars (well maybe one) who didn't go in the "divide" so were going the wrong way in a lane for a time...that too is scarey to observe!!

Default Carts in roundabouts

The other day, while I was driving into LSL on Canal St., a cart in front of me stopped dead in the roundabout where he shouldn't have been in the first place! I had to toot my horn to get him to move. Lifestyle visitors should be given a crash course in where their carts are NOT supposed to be! And, how to navigate the roundabouts, too.

Default A Lot of Villagers Need Driving Lessons

on how to use traffic circles. The rules are fairly simple - traffic laws in circles are the same as those for a four way intersection. If you are entering from the right-hand lane you may go straight or using a turn signal, turn right. If you are entering in the left hand lane you may go straight, or using your turn signal make a left turn.

Making a right turn from the left lane we all understand is prohibited. Why don't people understand that making a left turn from the right lane is equally illegal and dangerous? They are putting in danger people who are obeying the law and going straight in the left lane. Several times I have had these people honk and gesture angrily at me for following the law (and incidentally the lines posted on the streets).

.
How do you make a left turn out of a traffic circle? All of the exits are on the right.

There are those who endorse the idea of cars being allowed to use the cart lanes to imitate a right turn. That is to say, as an automobile prepares to turn right, they pull over into the cart lane to do so.

I say that is just downright dangerous and a bad idea.

Funny, automobile lanes are for cars and cart lanes are for carts. Now, carts want to register and use the automobile lanes and cars want to begin using the cart lanes.
