I know a couple best-selling authors living here. Is that celebrity status?

Here's one!

Today's sun has a great article about George Yankowski of Polo Ridge, who played major league baseball for the Chicago White Sox, and was even managed by Babe Ruth in an all star benefit game. After he got the game winning hit, the Babe put his arm around him and said "Nice going kid".

That's a celebrity in my book!

I only get up Glenview Golf Course about every other month and twice in the past five years I've been paired with former major league catcher Bob Stinson. I guess he lives near there. He played from 1969 to 1980 for six different teams.

Bob Stinson Position: Catcher Bats: Both • Throws: Right 5-11, 180lb Born: October 11, 1945 (Age: 73) in Elkin, NC

Drafted by the Kansas City Athletics in the 3rd round of the 1965 MLB June Amateur Draft from Miami Senior HS (Miami, FL), the Washington Senators in the 1st round (13th) of the 1966 MLB January Draft-Secondary Phase from Miami Senior HS (Miami, FL) and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1st round (15th) of the 1966 MLB June Draft-Secondary Phase from Miami-Dade College (Miami, FL).

I doubt if you recognize he now from his earlier photos.

Why are a lot of people a))s here? Bob Stinson is around. I remember him at Sarasota. Catching messed up his hands sadly but he seemed a nice guy. Stop hating on people. You hate here you must be ugly inside in 'real life'. Stop being ugly. Attack me, no problem as I log in every couple months, but come on, be on topic and not a d-ck.

I came in 5th place in a Hustle contest in 1978, does that count? Also was a busker in Boston and Haahvad Squaya back in the early 80's. I used to play guitar and sing around the corner from where Tracy Chapman would set up her guitar and Pignose (a battery-powered portable amplifier). So I'm famous by association, right?

I won first place on a radio call-in show in Biloxi, MS. My prize was a case of Billy Beer. Second place won two cases of Billy Beer.

It's a shame when a thread gets derailed (they all do eventually) by chest beating and sad attempts at humor.

Well, it's a rainy day, maybe they are bored and depressed.

Once you've been here a while, you'll figure out that so many are. Look at post counts.
