Default Cell Phone Service

I just purchased a house in Fenney. How is the cell phone service? I have Verizon? Do I need to get a landline? Anything you can do to enhance the service?

Being close to the Turnpike cell service should be fine. During the hurricane AT&T and T Mobile lost service due to tower damage. T Mobile is still down they say with major tower damage AT&T is up.

Verizon seems to be one of the best covered and reliable here in TV and just about anyplace we have been in the USA.....15 years and counting.

I tried calling my wife's phone when she was standing outside the car several time in Finney. We have Verizon, all calls went straight to voicemail.

I was in Fenney, helping another villager, and while on a call was cutoff due to bad reception. The owner mentioned very poor cell coverage I have Verizon.

We have Verizon cell service here in the Village of Charlotte. Service is TERRIBLE! Have calls dropped all the time. Very frustrating.

Lots and lots of opinions of whether a land-line phone is required. We have one only because we lived in Ohio when Hurricane Ike came through there in 2008 and destroyed power and cell coverage got bad for most everyone. We were one of the few in our neighborhood with a working (land-line) phone. But, your choice. As far as which carrier for your cell, that's a tough one. We have AT&T which has its good and bad moments. I've heard both good and bad about all the major systems. Maybe wait till you get down here and use your cell phone a few times at the places you plan to spend most of your valuable recreation time. You for certain shouldn't make any concrete changes until you get here and check things out.

Just make sure that your phone and service supports wifi calling and you'll be fine. The cell phone service in Fenny is awful. Do a google earth view at Fenny and you'll see why.

No, my wife works there. Everyone she has contact with has different providers and they all have problems. Some phones don't work at all.
