Much better post than others who do not read the thread and simply post nonsense. East Port and SR. 44 will someday be the middle of the Vilages. Thanks for your insight. It will be interesting to see when the construction is complete. More amenities at what cost? Like some, concerned about the traffic.

I never said otherwise...

I specifically said "based on the map some are using..."

Anything is is pure speculation.

Except they're two different crossroads, several miles apart...

And the cost of the amenities? They are paid for with our amenity fees. Same as it ever was...

Was not speaking about the actual cost of the amenities. More homes, apartments, and commercial at what price is what I meant. Traffic is already bad at certain times during the day down here. 301 can be a nightmare. Several miles apart, same difference to me. Point is, the south will no longer be the south and the population is going to explode.

Never thought you said otherwise but based on what I have learned while living here stand by what I said

The developer has never shared what their total planned construction is. They also bought new land 4 months ago even.

Central lake is named after Central lake in Western Michigan just as around 100 other things in TV have been named after other places in Western Michigan. BTW, Central lake in Michigan, is nowhere near the center of Michigan. It's just a name.

If you bought a house that requires you to drive on 301 south of Wildwood, you have only yourself to blame.

South of Wildwood, 301 is a little meandering country road, just like it was in 1952 when my family and I traveled from Ohio to Fort Myers. However, thanks to The Villages, it will soon be a nice 4-lane highway, and you will probably be much happier.

Not going to argue. If you do not believe the Developer has already purchased enough land to double the size of the Villages, that is your choice. Developer Buying more parcels of land 4 months ago supports the OP, it does not negate it. The present Villages south will no longer be the south and Eastport will be in the middle of the Villages. (Argue as you wish exactly how much in the middle, it doesn't matter.) The OP's main point was that the population of the Villages is going to explode.

Never said Central Lake was in the center of Michigan. I merely Looked up the history of Central Lake and found it is in the center of a chain of lakes. Hence the name. And, that is what I wrote in my post.

Just received a PM that suggested I look at the Villages Continuing the Dream Videos- A Closer Look at Eastport.

In it Tracy Morse states: when we were renaming the roadway system, we realized we were in the middle of our property. Central Pkwy seemed appropriate. After renaming the highway, we followed through by naming the lake, Central Lake, after an area we grew up in while living in Michigan.

Straight from the horse's mouth. This is how Central Pkwy and Central Lake were named.

I watched the video. Interesting how the Morse family tied the names of the Pkwy and Lake together. I had no idea Eastport was named because it will be on the east side of the lake. And, that Eastport also happens to be a place in Michigan where they grew up. Nice tie-in by Tracy Morse!

From the description of Eastport by the Morse sisters, it sounds like the place is going to be spectacular. Looking forward to the indoor pickleball courts and the rock climbing wall. Knowing they have purchased quite a bit of land, I wonder what else they have in store. Can't wait!

The video certainly puts that why spread a rumor nonsense to rest.

301 is being widened is a great example of proactive road management. Its heavy, but not a complete standstill. If there is to be concerned about a road, look at those that need to use Powell Rd (CR 462) from 466A north. It goes from four lanes down to two. You'll have tons of churches and housing with no any road widening. The estimate is that it will be bumper to bumper throughout the day once all the development is done.

I completely agree!!

We live in Osceola Hills and we often drive to the Wildwood area. I think that a lot of people living in the new areas south of 44 pay city taxes to Wildwood, and the city is using the money for their own benefit.

Wildwood is approving new developments in the 'suburbs' along 44A and 301 and along Powell Road north of 466A, and I agree it is going to make traffic much worse along those roads.

Our personal solution? Avoid that area, but that will be heartbreaking for us. We have some Oakwood BBQ in our refrigerator and I plan to enjoy it right now!
