If Fred53, Rubicon, Chatbrat, and Rapscallion would like to PM me their names and address, I will gladly give them 4 cents each so they recover their losses. Any more claims will eat into each person's share of the 15 cents.

I'm in!!!!!..............everyone just lost 25%.

Oh, so it's the small amount of electricity taken that matters, not the fact that it's being stolen. Who knew. Thanks for the clarification.

I called the VCDD and asked if I had a cart would it be okay to charge it this way. The answer was no...not maybe...not in an emergency. They stated it was the same as taking money from the home owners.

Next time I will say something...nicely, but I won't just walk by.

So if you're a cheap SOB then find another way to charge your cart as I will not fund your cart charging unless you will help with my gasoline. "ENTITLED"

He was probably funding his cart charge using his amenity fees.

Chill, everyone is not perfect. Sure they were embarrassed about it. Maybe they taped two quarters by the outlet.

And would you entitled aholes drinking all the water at the postal station water fountains get a drink BEFORE you pick up your mail? Are you that cheap and unprepared that you have to drink water I pay for? Next time I see you, I'm calling the district AND the sheriff's office.

$0.15 / 50,000 residents = $0.000003. I'll take mine on cash please.

Conveniently ignoring the point. As far as the money offer, no thank you. My treat.

I actually did get an emergency charge once last summer.

My wife had not noticed the GFI on the outlet for where the cart was plugged in had popped. She left on some errands and after several miles, she ran completely out of power just by a mailbox depot. She calls me at home and I go there with the charger and a long extension cord. She takes the car and continues on her errands.

I pushed the cart as close to the outlet as possible and plug it in. I had it plugged in about 45 minutes. Several people stopped and asked if they could bring me a snack or water. All were very nice - but one!

One "busy body" asked in a snappish, grouchy way what I was doing. I smiled and said that I always recharge my cart at mailboxes so I don't have to pay for the electricity. She got really angry and before I could tell her I was joking, she yelled she was going to call Community Watch and she sped off. Community Watch never came.

So, in about 45 minutes, I had enough charge to get home.

There are emergencies like mine that do happen. I am sure the couple at Sanibel mailboxes had something similar as me.

Cutting the plug off cords, smearing motor oil on saved seats, spitting on carts with political placards are NOT the way civil people should act anywhere - especially Florida's Friendliest Hometown.

Exact same thing has happened to me. The scary part is, there are people on this board who act in public just like they do on this board. smh

I don't want my share. TYVM. Just wanted to say I'm so glad I could help. Should the need ever arise again, please feel free to use my share of amenity fees to get you home safe and sound.
