Default cheap rental car?

We usually drive down in October , fly back north for Xmas and then fly back down end of December..
but this year tickets around Xmas were so high, we decided to hang around Cape Cod till Xmas and then drive down
But.........we want a little fun time in TV
soo...we are flying down Nov 19th for a month
Checking out rental cars...they are double what they were last yr
way too expensive for my budget

wondering if there is a local non famous named rental place
that offers used cars :dontknow:...
ya know..like...rent this junk car for $10 a day :joke:

we have a golf cart but.......wondrin if Id need car too?
we can get to Spanish Springs easy enough in cart..and also Lowes n WW too........and Target etc

but we went once to Lake Sumter Landing and got lost and almost ran out of battery power

also..is there a place in Lake Sumter that lets you recharge your battery for an hour or so?

LOL..........sounds silly now that I am reading what I am asking, but it is a serious concern..
I just dont want to get down there and be trapped in Spanish Springs! :

I don't know of a cheapie place, but if you have AAA or AARP you can get discounts. I believe there is a rental facility right in TV and you might be able to cut a daily deal with them since you don't need one except on an emergency type basis.

Thanks...thats a good idea I will talk to them
we do rent from them..to go to airport

would surely be a great business though for someone to open..
surely dont need a fancy new car with unlimited miles to just go around the Villages

thats part of what pricing is based on..the many miles most put on the cars..
:joke:

We stay for a month with no car, only our electric cart. Rent a one way car at the airport, use it to stock up on groceries, etc. for one day, and turn it in to Enterprise. It's also the cheapest way from the airport.

While visiting my daughter who was attending UM during the past 4 years, I rented from
www.e-zrentacar.com . I think they have the best rates around - check them out.

AAA gives discounts with Hertz. If you rent just for weekends, you can get a rental for under $20/day. Great deal IMO.

If your golf cart is running out of juice going from SS to LSL (even factoring in getting a little lost), it sounds like it might be time for new batteries or upgrade to a 48-volt. There should be enough battery life in a fully charged cart to get you from at least Spanish Springs to Hadley or Hemingway and back, even if the return is at night.

well that day we had a full load,
4 adults and 2 little ones

good idea about renting weekends..sort of a treat!

our cart is new..(well 2006 we bought it and only use it 1/2 of the year)
so 48 volt batteries should be fine
maybe we were fine too...but hubby thought we just made it

thanksss for all the ideas ;D

LovinIt, there are 2 rent-a-wreck places in Leesburg, but how would you get there and back? You'll probably have to copy the links and paste them into your browser:

FYI: We used Enterprise last month for the first time, and we were VERY impressed with their service.

Oh ..I checked those Wreck places..
really about same as any of the other ones at MCO

I would have picked it up on way to The Villages before I drop off my rental at Hertz

Im going to "rough it" LOL and use the cart for that month

and if we need a rental ...we will just do weekend rates..

thanks again
if Enterprise was in SS Id try them but Hertz is closer for us
