I think game tables on the squares is a GREAT idea! As far as the music and dancing go, that should be no problem. Just have the game tables wrap up operations by say, 2pm. Plenty of time for the evening activities to ramp up. As it currently stands, the squares are largely unused in the mornings and early afternoons. Hope The Villages is listening!

Ah, but fresh morning air outdoors does invigorate one so!

sounds like a terrific idea. saw this in san francisco's chinatown and the tables were always occupied with game players. other than in the evenings the town squares are underutilized. what we also do not have a neighborhood parks. we have 'open spaces' but nothing dedicated as parks........walking paths, benches, landscaping. wouldn't it be nice to have a 'loop' around each water retention pond with benches, exercise stations and lovely landscaping?

We have a lot of green spaces where people walk. They are called golf courses. In fact some of us walk and cuss on them.

dominoes etc
Freinds of ours play dominoes at Sumter by the radio shack. They bring their own games, listen to the music and have a great night out! :)

Add the suggestion to The Villages Survey that is now being distributed.

The squares are beautiful, but I think they can be better used in the daytime. A place for non-golfers to congregate and to meet each other. A few game tables, perhaps a reading garden, ping pong etc. might be low cost ways of making them vibrant places earlier in the day. I can't imagine the merchants objecting to that.

how about the rec pool areas?

walking on golf courses?
