We have been to city furniture twice and both times got a bad vibe and bought elsewhere. We miss Southern Living

Obviously, this is a well kept secret. Southern Lifestyles still maintains a warehouse and sells to the public. I have purchased pieces from them recently and they still furnish homes for TV models. They do not want you to call them but prefer they take your number and call you to set up an appointment. Crazy but I love their furniture and still great service 🤗

Where?

Wow. I'd like to know more. Southern Lifestyles was a wonderful place to find a wide variety of furniture at a very reasonable cost. Another Morse run business that was run well.

TOTV is a wonderful place to compile information on so many things and is usually very accurate when you meld the information provided. That being said after exhaustively searching for a close match to our living room set eureka, City Furniture had the perfect dining room table, chairs and hutch. The salesman was a professional in all regards and was prepared to defend his store against bad past practices. Maybe not defend but explain why my experience will be different. The furniture will be delivered this Wednesday. We are aware that we are not buying from Thomasville. We also know that any furniture or appliance that shows up damaged does not enter the house...not a chance, no way Jose, no promises of repair, no adjustment on the price. I will get back to you all to let you know if things have changed. I'm rooting for a happy, uneventful delivery, we shall see.

If I'm wrong and this goes bad I guess I should have listened. Such a Rebel!

There store policy is they only deliver furniture, you can't pick it up your self. I don't think that is a "bad attitude" I don't like there policy, among other things and will not shop there.

Went to City Furniture today as I had been looking to purchase a server for our dining room. Had researched on line and found a price of $449.99 at City Furniture and same server at Badcocks for $399.95. Went first to Badcocks as it was closer to our home. They did not have in stock but would order for us. Told them we would think about it and get back to them. City Furniture states that they had it in stock at Spanish Spring store and we're giving 10% discount for Memorial Day weekend on non-sale items. When to City Furniture. Sales man states there is no discount. Told him Badcocks had same thing for $399 instead of $449. He asked manager and would give discount. Told him we wanted it and would like to pick it up ourselves. He said you can't do that, it must be delivered for $59.99. They had the servers there. Would not sell it to us unless we had it delivered. Left store and went back to Badcock's. Ordered the server for $399.95 and was told they were giving us 10% for Memorial Day weekend sale. Total cost with tax $385! We can pick it up on Wednesday. City Furniture lost a $449 sale that they really did not care about.

Hi we have had only one deal with City Furniture and never again, they lied to us, they have poor quality and cover it up, blemishes, they are terrible on delivery, they say they have it but after all the dust settles, they do not have it, it is in Ft Lauderdale and deliveries from there are so so. Awful attitude and never again will we deal with them, NO. bbbbbb

Cannot define it all,,,,,,,,,, City Furniture is a big pain in the neck. Poor quality, blemishes, scratches, they lie about free delivery and the delivery is a big bunch of problems. They imply they deliver, they do not they had an independent totally unreliable group tie us up for three days to get one item. Never again.
Thanks for the comments on Lifestyle, will use them instead. Never for City Furnishings. bbbbbb

We have been hawking this fantastic place called Bargains & Treasures that Mrs. Graciegirl told us about. The selection is vast but this purchase had to be a very close match. Our salesman did not over promise anything and I know I'm taking a calculated risk because of those who went before me. All furniture stores have these same problems. All furniture stores do not have a common forum where their customers may share their tales of WHOA. It's a dining room set not the Nuclear Football! Restore the diploma until the truthful outcome is revealed. Come on Coach you know I can handle this!

While we found Southern Lifestyle's quality to be fairly decent on most things, their prices were outrageous if you actually shopped around for comparable items.

I'm guessing that smart people, who balked at the high prices....is what finally made the developer have to close it.

Not from what I hear. Nothing more than overpriced furniture of limited quality that was marketed with discounts to new home buyers by the benevolent developer.

Most sharp people know enough to never let your primary seller co-market other goods with their main business.

Sir. I lived here when Southern Lifestyles was open and I am paying attention enough to know that you did not live here when they were open. I know your brother did, but there are many other experienced opinions too..

I am somewhat an experienced shopper and have furnished a number of homes over time. PLUS I am known in my family as frugal, some call me tight.

When we first moved here we went in and looked around and I thought that they had a lot of high end stuff and was kind of turned off as we were furnishing a second home and I wanted reasonable but good.

But I read this Forum where folks were saying that they had more reasonable lines (This was before they opened the second store that showed less expensive furniture). So we took the style numbers and price of the Broyhill bedroom furniture that we wanted and they gave us a better price and offered a loaner until the set came in. (We didn't take them up on the loaner, but it was nice of them to offer) We then purchased several things from them and found them reasonable and helpful too. They had availability of all lines known to me from Bassett, through Thomasville and Drexel Heritage and Tommy Bahama and Lexington and I cannot think of the name of our dining room table but it is very nice. They had every line of furniture known to me available if not on site.

I was extremely satisfied with Southern Lifestyles as were many who shopped there. (Who aren't dummies)

I thought they had nice furniture. We didn't let the alligators sit on any of it.

Im glad your experience with that was a good one. Perhaps as an original settler in the Villages fighting off alligators and such you were just happy to be down here in paradise.

I suspect a lot of people who are from other sharper parts of the country just didn't approve of their quality and service.

Maybe the younger newer Villages are more discriminating.

Who knows?...but you were happy so that's all that matters.

I am a younger villager and live in a newer village south of 466a. As a discriminating consumer, I bought very nice Flexsteel and American Drew furniture from Southern Lifestyles. I agree with Gracie Girl. Their service and products were very good. I miss the old Southern Lifestyle store and their friendly knowledgeable design staff. Back on subject, I bought a large mirror from City Furniture from a very nice sales person with no problem. They ordered it and we picked it up. I will say I am not fond of the more modern style of furniture they sell and therefore not my first choice if I need additional furniture. Having moved here from up north 4 years ago and now living in paradise, I prefer a lighter more tropical/traditional style.
