And wear light clothing, especially when walking in tunnels!

The stinky gas fumes seem to linger in tunnels.
I always hold my breath when driving my electric cart through tunnels.
Another good reason not to walk through a tunnel!

Another safety devise, that I haven't seen mentioned now or in the past, is the clip on LED strobe lights. They are small, about 3"x3" (or bigger), very light in weight, they clip onto your belt, pocket, sleeve, etc. They are bright and flash very rapidly. You will certainly become more noticeable, even in bright sun light.

The other day I was driving down BV, and a guy walking on the MMP had a tee shirt that had printed on the back "Don't be a Dick". The letters were big enough to see from BV! Of course, he was walking WITH the traffic...

When I bought my Yamaha cart new in 2011 from TV golf cart, I had the bigger square mirrors added. They were about $50 at the time, they might be standard now. One thing I learned real quick was they were high and whenever I was in a turn it created a blind spot directly behind the mirror. I was going along the MMP at BV where you turn the corner sharply onto O'Dell and while in the turn a cart traveling the opposite way appeared out of nowhere, that's when I realized these mirrors needed lowering.

I took the cart back to the LSL sales office and they apparently knew about the problem. They lowered the mirrors so that the top is no higher than the black hinge line through the windshield is the top of the mirror. Now when I scan the horizon while in a turn, I'm not seeing any blindspots. They plugged the holes on the support beam so that it looked professional, as much as could be, where the mirrors were attached and moved them down about 10 inches.

Wouldn't his children and grandchildren be proud?

Be more diligent than we are now...Drive defensively and be more aware of your surroundings...Of course, that sometimes is not enough...We can only do what we can do and can't be responsible for all the others on the road...

Yesterday coming back from grocery shopping in my car, I came from behind Publix Grand Traverse headed east into the RB at Powell. A car, travelling north on Powell blew into the RB at 40-45 mph about 10 feet in front of me, and after slamming on the brakes and leaning on the horn, I received stereo one finger salutes from driver and passenger. A little peeved, I made sure I caught up to them at the light at 44A, and asked if they knew what a yield sign meant. They, in turn, called me a "racist". I'm not sure what traffic control has to do with racism, but I couldn't resist. I told them "Yes, I am. I hate all Japanese cars!!!" At least I'm pretty sure these individuals were not Villagers (nor snowbirds, nor renters). I hope they made it to their destination in one piece.

One of my scariest moments relating to a golf cart was going into the home of friends through the garage where their gas powered golf cart was parked. The gasoline fumes were overwhelming, and all I kept thinking was "These folks have a gas water heater in the garage with a pilot light burning 24/7...." To me that's scarier than the golf cart driver (whom we were driving directly behind) who suddenly cut across two lanes of traffic—not signaling, of course, since he didn't have time...—to get to a multi-modal trail directly in front of a car whose driver fortunately had good brakes and good reflexes (about which I posted a while back). And this at a spot where the golf cart driver could have turned to the right off the main road and immediately have taken a tunnel under the road to go in the direction he was going. The car screeched to a stop, and the golf cart driver, totally oblivious, never even looked back....
