This is our first year here, any helpful hints on closing the house up for the summer?

when we used to be gone there was no problem leaving one or both cars for the period we would be gone, summer or winter.

Put stabilizer in the gas tabk and fill it up.

Buy a battery tender and hook it up.

You are good to go and the car will start up as if you never left.

Ditto. We've done this with many vehicles many times - no problem-o.

Sta-Bil is available in pretty much any store that sells automotive related products.

Here's Battery Tender's web site: Home page - Batterytender.com These can be found at various businesses on the web and at many motorcycle dealerships.

The best thing we did was hire somebody in "home watch" business to take care of our home when we leave for extended periods of time. Our air went out---It could have been very bad if "Peace of Mind Home Watch Services" had not been doing their job. Unexpected things can happen even to a new home.

Sounds great
Was worried I'd have to drive north UGH
What about tires
I see mentioned golf cart tires need to be driven to keep them healthy
Anything special I need to do?

A Homewatch Company will give you a "to do" list to prepare for closing up your home. We save a ton of money on electric bills by using a dehumidistat.

Golf cart tires can "flat spot" if the cart is left sitting for extended periods of time without driving it. Automobile tires generally won't do this due to the construction of their tires (radial tires on autos vs. non-radial on golf carts).

The automobile tires might seem a little lumpy for a while when first driving again but they'll smooth out in short order.
