I would love to be a part of this when we eventually become frogs, probably in another year. We have been talking about missing our organic vegetable garden in Indiana. Please keep us in mind.

I am available next week. Maybe next Tuesday when Rick is in town would be a good time to meet up. Maybe Jim Davis could be there or arrange for another master gardener to attend. I have many years experience as a backyard gardener in New England and a brief stint in California. I have had extensive vegetable gardens. (Now that I am retired I would be happy with a small plot!)

I'd be interested in attending..
possibilities:
involve schools
establish a not for profit to oversee
apply for grant funding
Grant Opportunities - America in Bloom
collaborate manure acquisition with horse farms
include a butterfly and hummer garden
as suggested already, coordinate donations to locals in need

as my son used to say, "Ain't this fun?"

I have no plans to move at the moment but my brother in on site every day and i'd be directly involved in the implantation.

Kitty, I love the way you think! This needs to be a community minded program something that will inspire others to garden and create other green projects.

According to the National Community Garden Association,there are currently 20,000 community gardens in the US up from only 6,020 in 1996.
The desire to grow your own food is greater than ever.
Check this following website. They offer a grant program by December 31 of
$ 5,000 in cash & garden tools.

Five K? Wow. I was envisioning folks planting a few tomatoes, some peas, beans, some blueberries, some lettuce, maybe some arugula and green onions and a few radishes, some beets, even potatoes in their own little section.

I guess the five thousand would be for a shed and watering cans and hoes and spades and stuff like that?

I know I am being a real pill with my attitude and questions. I just know that a lot of people do plant some stuff in their own yards here. We do.

What would the grant money be for?

Fiskars is a mftr of garden tools, which they probably generously donate as well as the grant $. Would need fencing and probably cross-fencing, shed, wheelbarrows, water hoses, boot brushes, a bushel and a peck.

gosh, I'd love to know what questions there are if folks want to post them to the community. It doesn't seem right for one person to take over this effort as the authority to answer. I hope if you have questions, you post them for all to participate and keep this as a collaborative effort, not one driven from top down, tho I don't think Rick meant it that way, he's just generously offering to respond to everyone...but I am nosy and want to know it all as we make it happen.

The questions are for the meeting so that everyone is prepared ,not for me. I need people to contact me via email so that I know how many people i'll be hosting. It wouldn't be polite for me to not offer refreshments. This is your baby (Villagers) I'm just the host and eager to help.... I have a lot of suggestions and can't wait to share them.
