Money does talk especially in local contests. I read the candidate with the largest “war chest” wins 95% of the time.

Has she been officially declared the winner??

Everything is in. Lazich conceded late last night so I guess ‘officially’...like the others, November is the coronation (stand to be corrected)

This is the latest from the Board of Elections.

There were supposed to be 19,265 votes by mail and it says the mail vote is partially reported.

Do you have final numbers?

That’s everybody combined in the Sumter elections....not District 1 specifically. 99% of the vote is in.

Remember, although not legally binding, Lazich conceded to Butterfield. Do you honestly think a former President of the Wisconsin State Senate....with her vast experience in elections.....would concede if she thought two hundred and something votes would shift her way at a later date?

That said, I am always mindful of a Joseph Stalin passage....’It’s not who votes that counts....it’s who counts the votes’! :1rotfl:

Don’t know her but I like her. You can tell a lot about a person when they can gracefully lose.

But doesn’t the entire county vote for every commissioner?

If votes are out, I thought they are out for everybody.

I voted in all three elections!

My understanding, the number that was posted was total mail in ballots cast in Sumter County yesterday. It was non specific as to how many ‘mail in’ ballots were still in play and yet to be factored in ....to ALL offices contested (if applicable). I’m guessing that with 99% of the votes in....that the remaining mail in votes are nominal in the final analysis. I’m sure there are others on here that can confirm or correct this assumption....

Both of these ladies were excellent candidates to serve on the county commission. That's why the race was so close. Congratulations to Deb for your success, and thank you to Mary for showing true kindness and class throughout the entire race.

Where did Don's large amount of campaign funds come from and are these donators associated in any way to the Developer?

So what?????? REPEAT, SO WHAT???????

Do you think people donate to candidates that they DISAGREE with????? ANYWHERE??????

We can't discuss anything beyond local politics, but on a larger scale who do we think donates what to whom and why?????
