Default Cost of replacing palm tree.

Does anyone have any idea what it would cost me to remove a 30 foot tall date palm and replace it with a smaller palm? I'd like something around 6-8 feet.

I paid $300 each to remove four queen palms a couple of months ago. One was lifting my driveway. Another appeared to be rotting at the base. If I left the other two, it would look weird.

AB Landscaping 352-587-1323. Did a good job.

I have one Queen Palm next to my front sidewalk I wouldn't mine replacing. Did you replace your Queens with anything else? I was thinking of a Sabal Palm since the fronds are high enough they wouldn't block the sidewalk. I think the roots don't spread as far, because on the new Wildwood section of 466A they are planting what appears to be Sabals in the road mediam which is very narrow. They look like this.

If you're referring to the tall palm in the picture of your new home, it's a queen palm, not a date. This might matter if you're getting quotes over the phone since a 30 ft date palm would weigh at least three times what a similar height queen would.

BTW: good to hear that TV is building some new homes on the historic side. We're still three years or so away from retirement, but we're always keeping an eye on the home sales in TV, and seem to be more interested in the historic side than we were intitially. Where will your current home be listed? Your new one looks very nice!

JohnW posted the pictures of the queen palms. I have a date palm in front of a new house I am in the process of buying. It's made a mess all over the lawn. Little orange things (dates) have dropped every where.

Don't queen palms produce the seed pods that eventually turn to yellow fruits? When I move in my 4 palms (which I am pretty sure they are queen palms) some had the yellow fruits and you right they do make mess if you let them mature out. I didn't know date palms were planted in the area. Are dates yummy?

No, I saw your new home in your other thread & I'm assuming that the two visible palms in that picture are the only ones in front of your new home.

The very tall palm over on the LEFT side of your new driveway is a queen palm, NOT a date palm.

John W. posted a pic of sabal palmettos, which is what the existing shorter palm is on the RIGHT side of the your new driveway.

It appears to me that you have one queen palm & one sabal palmetto. I don't see a 30 ft date palm anywhere.

I was told by a Villages representative that it's a date palm. Could be a queen. Do queens produce orange seeds about and inch in diameter?

Whatever it is, it makes a mess and I like something shorter that won't make a mess. I'd also like to be able to look out the window and see something more than a tree trunk.

Serenoa is correct. I got a chain saw if you want to borrow it.

No, I haven't replaced them yet. I'm thinking about Crape Myrtles at the house corners (that's what was there when we bought it) and something else in the middle section.

Just get a saw and cut that seed pod off; that's what we were told to do because of the mess it makes. Trying to save you a lot of money.

Won't it grow back? Is there only one pod that produces all the seeds?
