Can't imagine the Morse's cutting off their noses to spite their face and buddy with Walmart and cut Costco out. It wouldn't benefit them any.

Boy Howdy. At first I thought he was kidding.

Of course not overt

Do you really believe there could be an overt lock out of a geographic area as stated?

I suppose there is a stretch possibility, but that would be against the law and while big business sometimes does some "questionable" deeds, I doubt they would openly run such a risk......what are they protecting? Adding another billion? I seriously doubt it. They are much smarter about such things than that......most of them most of the time anyway!

Morse doesn't have development in other locations so there's no gain. Of course it wouldn't be "overt." As cynical as I am about many things, these people aren't stupid. Big business holds the cards in this country and monopoly status can be bought and laws circumvented. Florida (and other states) have a "good ol' boy environment. When it comes to more money you can bet they will be protective.:icon_wink:

Why do some many Americans drive SUVs?

... So they can shop at Costco!

And how did you like Amazon's selection of fresh meats and rotisserie chicken?

Where did you hear that? I can only hope it's true but we're not on their recent list of new locations :(

GatorFan 04-19-2014 06:26 PM

Been hearing that for 10 years

Found out from who? There are lots of rumors out there.

I heard the other day that Disney had purchased land on 44 and was building a development like Celebration. I just looked at them and smiled.

I would love to see a Costcos near TV, but I'm a little skeptical that some VP at Costcos will base a decision to open a new store based on emails. I would guess they have very sophisticated tools that analyze traffic patterns, zoning regs, labor market, competition, taxes, government incentives, demographics, life style data, foot traffic, other retail draws, etc. I really don't think that someone says we got 100 emails from "Jack" and "Bob", so I think we should open a store. If the analysis is good, they will build a store even if they don't get any emails. If they analysis is bad, they wont build a store even if they get a thousand emails.

I am such a fan of a good analysis.
