A beautiful little town and the Montverde Academy is something to see. Before you go read up a bit on the history of Montverde Academy. Francisco Lindor NY Mets gives a scholarship every year in honor of his time at the academy.

“Sugarloaf mountain” is in the same area. (I think that is it’s name) Second highest point in Florida by just a bit and a nice afternoon drive. Clermont area has been a very fast growing area of Lake County for the last 20 years.

Just curious what route you take from Richmond to get to the turnpike in 5 minutes? We live in DeLuna and are just one mile to 301 after exiting the DeLuna 301 gate, so it’s usually about 5 minutes for us to get to the turnpike. Your route is definitely farther than ours.

Also, what kind of shopping is available in Clermont now? We are definitely excited about the Costco as that and TJ’s are the two stores we miss the most after moving here, but for other shopping we’ve been going up to Lady Lake and really don’t like the drive or congestion up there. So far the only places we’ve gone via turnpike is WDW and a quick stop at Costco in Orlando after a day at Epcot. Hated that Costco, but I was exhausted when we stopped there so maybe that influenced my opinion.

Assume you are talking about the Costco near the Millenial Mall. It is one of the busiest, if not the busiest Costco, that we have ever gone to. Finding a parking space can be exhaustive alone. Have learned that you never go there on a week end. We were there on 5/9. Slow for them, but still more busy than a Sams

No. Wesley Chapel is I 75 south toward Tampa. About an hour from 466A. Also seems to stock a little more upscale items than Orlando.

We already quit BJ'S. I can't wait to quit Sam's, it's a long story.

I am going to join Costco, alert the media. It is definitely because of the popularity that everyone has for this joint. It must really be something else. It better be. LOL. I trust you all to lead us in a better direction.

I'm tired of the ride up to the 441 area. Just doing our part to cut down on the congestion. By the way, who did what to who??? I can't believe that 441 isn't finito yet. A real disgrace.

I had to laugh...I checked the location on Google maps and it's already on the map as "Future Costco" :icon_wink:

Not excited at all.

WOW ! Evidently, even with B.J.'s, Costco's very experienced location team determined we did need one... since 93% of villagers used to make Costco the #1 requested business when we used to receive the annual resident's survey, with Trader Joe's always coming in at #2, I suppose this is good news for many. For us it's going to be a "toss up", Clermont or Winter Park, as to distance, but, we now have such a list of favs for lunch in Winter Park, and the added attraction of the hitting Trader Joe's and Whole Foods for some favorite items while there. Used to add a stop at Nothing Bundt Cakes, but now we can get those anytime right here :BigApplause:

Love it, LOL ! But, based on the history of Costco's prices, quality, customer loyalty, and popularity... don't think that one person who thinks the "world" (LOL, LOL) does not need another Costco, is going to help the parking situation... LOL !
Kind of amusing, isn't it, how people get this compulsion to post such things ? It's fine, even good, that we all have varying opinions, but it's just curious as to what it is that motivates such. To me, a reply to the post that read: " we had a Costco membership for a year, but it did not really pay off for us, so not as excited as many about the new location in Clermont." Now that would add something. Or, "people rave about the quality of items at Costco, but we purchased a _____ and a ____ and were disappointed in both." Those would make sense and add to the discussion but just to say sarcastically, "just what the WORLD needs" is, well, ...... adds nothing let's say !

Agree ! And, so many similar "hidden gems" in Florida. I know many residents visit Disney World, Cape Canaveral, Universal, and such, a few even venture out of the V's enough to discover the fabulous state parks and amazing "back in time" little towns like the setting for the world famous book The Yearling. Endless places to explore here, once you've done the most obvious attractions. Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, so many others in our beautiful state, and so many live so close and never see them ! Has anyone take the ferry to Caladesi Island state park ?

I suspect the big box marketing guys are now looking at all the apartment complexes going on in the tri-county area and don't rely on residents of TV to support their plan. While we may have the income to buy what we want, the influx of young single and married folks with kids will shop differently than us.
