Make that two of us are happy with Sam's. After living in Northern NH for several years where you traveled an hour or more each way to get to a store, this is heaven!

Default Costco

We just bought new cell phones. Got the best deal in the area and free gift cards. They were also a pleasure to deal with. Not Costco employees tho they are vendors.

I agree that if they ever came they would dominate but based on my experience in selling big box stores they Costco has a very well calculated and very demanding marketing plan and they stick by it. Only was it would ever happen is if they decided to go to a smaller satellite store concept or they decided to open in Ocala which I doubt.
I agree, we don't fit the Costco marketing scheme.
I'm curious and you seem knowledgeable. Have you ever known Costco to open a smaller satellite store?

The term "professional" in the case of Costco is used to describe an employee who cares about the customer, is well informed, well trained, and their appearance eludes a sense of being proud and happy with their job. This has always been the case with Costco unlike Sam's or Walmart. If you do not understand this then you do not know the Costco experience.

Quite the generalization. Having shopped at both for many years, I have not experienced any huge difference in employees at either Sam's or Costco, certainly not to the level that you perceive. Then again, I go in to both places, pick out what I want, check out and leave. I don't require an immersive experience.

This is a great (endless) thread, but let me just add this. We are building a home in Asheville, NC. Along with the “metro area” of Asheville and the surrounding 3 counties, it has a rapidly growing population of about 1 million. No COSTCO ANYWHERE WITHIN 50 miles. Folks, we are too small, too seasonal, and have too many competitor cities. And Orlando COSTCO is only one hour away. Give it a break already.

FYI, you can order non perishable to ship to your place from Costco. I did, paper products, detergent, etc. Buy enough, no shipping fee. Worked well. Can't wait for them to deliver some grocery items to here. They do in some places now.
