How do you know he lied? The Costco return policy you cited doesn't say anything about vacuum cleaners. I would define a vacuum cleaner as a small appliance, which would have an unlimited return period. Note that, even refrigerators less than 10 cubic feet are not considered major appliances by Costco.

Yep. We moved to TV with a 3 yr old Dyson that quit. Took it back, got full refund with no problem.

An 85+ y/o retiree? Only if you have heirs.

There was an article where COSTCO denied membership to a customer from returning too many items.

My dad is 93. I was at his house the other day when he got an Amazon order of a years worth of coffee packets. It just made me feel good 😊❤️, I guess it’s how positive your outlook is.maybe you use them all, maybe you don’t, if not I doubt you care.

retiredguy123 09-19-2023 07:30 AM

To me, the most amazing thing about Costco is that you can buy a diamond ring, or any other expensive jewelry, and return it for a full cash refund 10 years later, or even longer. By comparison, if you buy jewelry at most other jewelry stores, you will never get a cash refund, even if you return it the next day.

Do not think sexy seniors is the Hooters business model but think if they try real hard they can find waitresses we will want to become customers of.

well if you moved from a populous area then that's possible, this isn't "back home" therefore have fun driving to Clermont.

well, there ya go, Rich, it's the BIG question. some are thrilled @ the news, & i may have been too, when the kids were home, but these days the only thing i get in bulk is tp & pt. (never want another shortage fiasco). i don't eat @ home enough to purchase food items in bulk anymore, let alone cook. but to the many who praise the new Costco, have @ it & enjoy :MOJE_whot:

If they build one closer eventually, great. But until I see it on their website, it's just speculation.

You don't need to Google it. If you are in Clermont, you will see the Costco building. It is on 50 Hwy, west of the Turnpike. Gas pumps and canopies are in, walls for the building are up. No doubt they will make their November 14th opening date.

I’ve also read in Consumer Reports that lots of people are very happy buying cars through Costco. Put in your order, Costco places the order, then calls you when the car arrives. Better price than most of us can get through a dealer.

jim@jedward.com 09-19-2023 09:33 AM

Great to hear. I like Costco a lot better than Sam’s Club. However, if Costco refuses to have a scan and go capability like Sam’s Club, I won’t be going to Costco. Scan and go is absolutely fabulous. I can just scan everything in my cart with my phone, and never go to the checkout lane! Why Costco resists this capability is dumbfounding to me.

Have been reading information like this for years and have no reason to not believe this. In meantime they will be opening a Clermont location in Fall 2023 and that is 30 miles from us(next closest) 60 miles from our home in Spanish Springs. Still like Costco more than Sams or Bj's. Sams is the ultimate in junk food sales 3-4 aisle of snack foods.

Costco would create real competition to Sams. Best part of Sams is the butcher style meat department.

You must be buying for a large business or going every day because a $800-$1000/yr rebate @2% rebate for Costco credit card means you spend $40,000/yr to $50,000/yr there. Even if you figure in 2% MORE for exec membership (not sure if they both can be stacked) that's $20-25,000/yr. That's a lot of chickens and toilet paper (or hyperbole) !!! :1rotfl: That being said Well's Fargo credit card gives 2% on everything where Costco card gives 1% on everything except Costco so in the end I got rid of my Costco CC (and I hate CitiBank).

No questions asked 90 day return policy on almost anything you buy, even on opened food products. This is especially nice because the bulk nature of the stuff you're buying.Their return policy is unmatched.

Kirkland (Costco generic) product line is very good. The Kirkland salsa is the best store-bought salsa I've ever tasted. The frozen tilapia is excellent. The bedsheets are very good. The toilet paper and paper towels are good. Most of the Kirkland products I have bought seem to be very good quality and reasonably priced.

They treat their employees well. I've talked to multiple Costco employees and it's not uncommon to find people who have been there 10+ years.

Edit: I want to emphasize the importance of the above statement. If a company can be as profitable as Costco is, be competitive in it's pricing, and still treat their employees well, that's good for everybody. It also seems to be a rarity today.

Prices are decent.

Meat dept and the quality of the meat is excellent. One of the best places to buy meat I've ever been to.

Bakery is the best. Their cinnamon buns, bread, muffins, cakes, are all excellent.

Absolutely. Because a Costco in TV would serve far more than just Villages residents.

Look at the housing going up for those people who will be working here and moving here in ever-greater numbers as TV continues its growth. Younger folks, many with families, will be looking for shopping venues and bulk buying is probably attractive to many of them. You see it now at Sam's. Sure, many Villagers are there but it is the younger folks with the overflowing carts that are becoming more and more prominent.

Costco knows what they are doing. Obviously they are looking down the road and see a VERY lucrative market.

All windows and walls complete. Roof looks done. Gas Station to the east looked almost done. There were signs pointing to signing up for memberships in multiple locations. 09/19/2023

Several Costco employees told Business Insider's Áine Cain that the store's lenient return policy is the source of many tricky situations in the store.

"A woman came in and returned two dirty toilets that she had purchased online over five years ago," a Costco worker who has been with the chain for three years told Cain in June.

"She 'didn't need them anymore.' She didn't even clean them! I'm embarrassed that we ended up taking them back, but we did make her take them outside and clean them before we did," she said.

While some customers are clearly out to abuse the system, it's undoubtedly confusing.

The above is from the Costco website.

As one who ran big box stores for years ,I have seen it all. Costco,s has been putting the brakes on with the returns. Please you think because your three-year-old vacuum stopped working, Costco owes you another one. Really???

We have a Sams cc and also get a nice dollar amount back. When you use it for travel, restaurants, clothing etc. it does mount up.

Costco's major appliance/electronics return policy does not include vacuums. Take it from one who has returned one recently. Costco rocks!

High quality and great prices. Good return policy. Best place to buy eyeglasses, electronics and tires. Maybe not important to some people.
