Question Which county?

I have visited TV twice and looked at a number of homes. I am in the process of deciding which one to buy. I know TV spans three counties. Is one better than the others from a standpoint of taxes, services etc.? Thanks for the replies.

I think each county may have advantages. Sumter is the newest area, so if you are looking for a new, newer home, then that is where you will buy. One of the disadvantages of Sumter is since it is new, most of the bonds are still in place and or higher. The counties seem to coop well when it comes to fire service etc.

Residents of Lake County are also in the City of Lady Lake and have City services and no infrastructure bonds but no new homes.

I'm pretty sure that "the vast majority" of Villagers live in Sumter. It's the only one of the three counties where new construction of TV homes exists.

As suggested above, the Lake county portion is the oldest, and remains much closer to the original Villages, in which many homes are "manufactured" (that is, in less polite parlance, "mobile.").

There hasn't been new construction, so far as I know, in the Marion County portion of TV for many years.

My observation are:

Lake County is so geographically large that TV isn't all that significant a portion of it.

Marion County is also very big, and it's governmental structure reportedly has a much less friendly attitude toward TV.

Sumter County exists almost entirely because of TV. Many of the county's commissioners are Village residents. The much more rural and less populated southern portion of the county benefit considerably from the presence of TV, but do not necessarily automatically love us!

Having bought a newly constructed home, four-and-a-half years ago, I was essentailly forced into Sumter County. So, I cannot really address the tax situation vis-a-vis pre-owned homes in the other counties.
