Default A Couple of Young Men

We will be moving to the Village of Pine Hills the first of November. We have bought most if not all of our new furniture in N.C. this past Feb. so that will be delivered whenever. I'm driving down from Michigan with a 15ft U-haul (and a car trailer) with boxes and "misc small stuff." I could definitely unload this myself, but if there were a couple "kids" around that I could help out and wanted to make some "flash cash" I would welcome that.

Any leads?

Some of the local Self Storage places might keep a name or two of loaders/unloaders.

there are no 'kids' down here...this is a retirement community

I'd suggest that you hire a couple of guys by the hour from one of the local moving companies (Village Movers is one)....you may pay a few dollars an hour more, but I think you'd be happier...and if something happens they're insured

just my opinion

Thanks for the replies. I just thought someone may know a couple young kids in need that could use some cash ($50ea) for less than an hour of work.

No biggie, I'll just do it myself and go out for dinner and cocktails afterwards. Although, that cash may not cover it.....

High school kids? Maybe contacting the principal, who maybe could post the job?

Insurance is the key word here, kids or adults. Either one of them falling off your U-haul by accident or intentional could end up costing you a lot more than $50.00. Call The Village Mover or one of the others mentioned.

You will need to stop at a weigh station and they will then report new purchases to tax Dept and you will get a bill. I was billed when I ordered and shipped all new furniture from tax free advertised store

Not related you, but with the huge cost of shipping furniture from there to here sometimes it makes more sense to just junk what you have and buy new furniture unless you have high or antique furniture. I would be careful about hiring day labor because of liability issues and because they won't give a cr*p about being careful with your stuff.

I had that problem once. I drove around and found some men working on a house or yard. I asked them if they wanted to make a few bucks after work. No problem. They came. Worked for 20 minutes and went away with $20 each.

What a sad world we live .

We give someone a helping hand and right away we need to protect ourselves from
law suites.

Stop the world, I want to get off.......

You don't need to stop at weigh stations when driving a Uhaul van filled with household goods / personal property--this is not considered a commercial move.

I don't think that applies here. OP has ordered furniture and will be shipped by N.C. furniture outlet. UHaul trailers DO NOT have to stop at weigh stations...

OP bought most if not all of their new furniture in N.C. this past Feb. so that will be delivered whenever.
OP IS NOT shipping their furniture. BOUGHT NEW in North Carolina.
