Why laminate at all?

Nothing was said about anything “turning black” if laminated. You can buy the laminating sheets in Staples and it simply sticks on whatever you’re applying it to then trim off any excess. Not a big deal.

International travel does not currently require proof of Covid vaccination.

Second - While most people will suffer only mild conditions with Covid-19, the fact is ICU units were being swamped by the folks who suffered from serious conditions. While I am very healthy, I am not willing to bet that I won't need an ICU bed.

Third - We are just learning about the longer term effects from this virus with folks who seemed to have only mild symptoms.

I have no disagreement with your stating that these vaccines were developed at "warp speed". However, given the situation, I think the collective government agencies from around the world did the appropriate thing. The usual development of vaccines ( or any drug) takes 10+ years. This is to minimize risk to larger test groups. The initial smaller group tests with years of review were skipped. Instead larger groups were tested much sooner meaning that the individuals in those trials were at greater risk than what would normally happen. The results from those trials showed that some vaccines were not effective (and the trial stopped - Merck vaccine) or that the vaccines were effective and were scaled up.

While I respect your decision not to get vaccinated, please don't use scare tactics to persuade others to follow your decision.

Excellent Post! :clap2:

While I have not been lucky enough to snag an appointment to receive my 1st Covid Vaccination as yet (on a wait list), I did update my vaccinations for Flu, Pneumonia, Tetanus and received my 1st Shingles vaccination. (2nd one next month). My pharmacist at Winn Dixie gave me a card that has a record of what I was vaccinated for and the dates.
It's good to have a record of what you've received and when.
Gave my Dr. the information.
When I was a child, I was vaccinated against smallpox. If you did not get that, you were not allowed to attend school until you did.
I am grateful there are vaccines to help protect people against deadly diseases.
Meanwhile, I'll wait and look forward to getting the Covid vaccinations and continue to be proactive by wearing a mask, etc., until we are able to get this pandemic under control.
Many travel destinations require a negative covid test with that test info submitted prior to travel to that destination. Plus testing upon arrival and quarantine for 4 days until negative test confirmed and testing again prior to departure, mandatory mask wearing in public places.
Minimal deaths and infection rates due to these restrictions.
Some airlines now require negative test prior to boarding as well.
I lost one family member to this virus and pray I won't lose another.
Wearing a mask in public places is such a simple thing to do.

Lot number is not on my card. Just says "Pfizer", the date given, and "EMS" and "LAKE DOH" for healthcare professional (no name even!)

We hope to get our first shot tomorrow in Inverness, so no vaccine card yet. Do not know if all the cards are of identical paper, but there are some types of paper that definitely will turn black if they are laminated in a thermal machine...I, unfortunately have done it. :ohdear:

Google images for "Covid vaccine card". You will see what information is included on the card. I have taken a photo of my card with both of my shots information entered on the card.

Have you ever traveled abroad and required prove of vaccination? That is what this card is for.

Thermal paper turns black when laminated

Unless the information was on thermal paper I doubt that it would turn black. I had the unfortunate experience of attempting to preserve my future granddaughter's image on thermal paper many years ago and totally obliterated the precious image forever.

It is not a question of what you tell your Dr and if he or she chooses to believe you. If your Dr did not want to document your vaccination record, had you had one, in to your medical records, maybe you should be looking for a new Dr.

I can surely tell who the anti-vaxxers are with those type of comments. Sad really.

Many many years ago when I was young just entering the adult world of grown-ups, I was "inducted" into the Ancient and Honorable Order of Turtles. I was given a card which I kept in my wallet for many, many years. Just recently, I looked at that card as it was buried in the dregs of my wallet, it was nearly paper pulp and not readable any more. I reluctantly threw that card away. Wish I had it laminated many many years ago.

“Vaccines can cause anaphylaxis and other dangerous life-threatening side effects.” - NIH (National Institute of Health)

Example: “The United States stopped giving mandatory smallpox vaccinations 30 years ago. Some people die from it; and others have serious reactions, some permanent. Scientists say it's the most dangerous vaccine known to man.” - CBS News, 60 Minutes

These new COVID vaccines containing genetic instructions were rushed into use with extremely short trial periods. According to the IFPMA, the development of novel vaccines is a long endeavor. “It takes usually between 10 to 15 years to develop a novel vaccine, as well as establishing its quality, safety and efficacy.” states the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations.

The NIH, CDC, Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), and the Department of Defense (DoD) combined to find the vaccine and dubbed the project OWS which stands for “Operation Warp Speed”. - Source/NIH’s National Institute of Infectious Diseases.

So bear in mind when you are being told that this vaccine is safe that this is the same government whose EPA said the air quality at the 9/11 site was safe for the cleanup workers, the DoD who had no qualms conducting LSD experiments on unsuspecting soldiers and said there was no cancer link to Agent Orange, and for-profit drug companies who market drugs in third world countries even though the same drugs have been banned in the U.S. and Europe due to harmful side effects. From 08/30/2017 to 02/03/2021 327 drugs previously approved by the FDA as safe & effective were recalled. This information was obtained from the FDA’s official website.

My final concern is that the COVID vaccines utilize genetic engineering. Messenger RNA vaccines (mRNA) vaccines have strands of genetic material called mRNA - source/CDC

I am NOT an “anti-vaxxer” nor a conspiracy theorist. I have had the DPT, pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine, HBV, and the zoster vaccine. I am susceptible and was routinely exposed to these diseases at my workplace. These vaccines have a proven record and were not rushed into production.

For those who have NOT already had a positive COVID test, I would carefully weigh the pros & cons of a new, relatively untested vaccine developed at “warp speed” (their words not mine) that uses genetic engineering against a virus that is just a nuisance for most people. Before you jump on me for stating it is “just a nuisance for most people” here is another direct quote from the WHO; “Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.” COVID is not on a plane with Ebola, the Plague, Cholera, Malaria, or Yellow Fever. Not even close!

- David Dallas EMT-Paramedic, RN, ASN, Retired

Glad you retired. Stop trying to make it sound like this is some hastily developed solution.

From the CDC:
“mRNA vaccines are a new type of vaccine to protect against infectious diseases. To trigger an immune response, many vaccines put a weakened or inactivated germ into our bodies. Not mRNA vaccines. Instead, they teach our cells how to make a protein—or even just a piece of a protein—that triggers an immune response inside our bodies. That immune response, which produces antibodies, is what protects us from getting infected if the real virus enters our bodies....”

“Researchers have been studying and working with mRNA vaccines for decades.” “mRNA vaccines have been studied before for flu, Zika, rabies, and cytomegalovirus (CMV) “. “Beyond vaccines, cancer research has used mRNA to trigger the immune system to target specific cancer cells.”

What about when vaccine proof is required to fly? Already required by some countries going overseas. Will be more and more as travel resumes.
