A coyote killed the cute nanny goat who lived on a farm behind our house in Amelia. Belle was always so cute and we loved to watch her. Now she is gone.

That's why the people that own the barn where I board have a loaded shotgun by the front door. So far this year they have killed 3 coyotes...BIG ones and there's more out there in dens.

this is very sad. we have taken their habitat.

Personally, I would take the side of the coyote over the nanny goat. I hate goats!!

Anyhow, it is legal for a landowner to kill a coyote on his property. It is not really recommended though. I copied the following from the Florida Dept of Wildlife. "Some evidence suggests that light, indiscriminant harvesting of Coyotes may actually stimulate production and further increase numbers."

I hate goats, too!

They are allowed to shoot the coyotes as they have farm animals that are in danger from them. So far, they have lost 7 barn cats to coyotes and a horse who was old and unable to run from them was attacked. He's ok and that particular coyote met his maker. :crap2: They have been going after the baby calves at the cattle ranch across the street. It's very sad to see that.

I agree with Kitty, it is very sad. We have taken their habitat, and now they are breeding and trying to feed their families and we kill them. Having said that, I don't see a solution. It's the way of progress. And of course we can't have them roaming around preying on weak, young and helpless barn animals. Or hunting on the golf courses and occasionally taking family pets if left outside. But still, it's sad.

Nature is cruel and it's hard for us to accept.
