If you were a subcontractor making $10-12 per hour and a opportunity came up to provide a better income for you and your family, Where would YOU be?

But then they will be back after partaking of the gouging opportunity, and they will be happy again with the current rate. I wouldn't hire them back for any job!

My concern is that The Villages poor response to the relatively minor impact we had from the storm shows that they are certainly not prepared to respond if we had catastrophic damage here.

What? -- "relatively minor disaster"?

Hurricane Irma was an extremely powerful and catastrophic hurricane, the strongest observed in the Atlantic since Wilma in 2005 in terms of maximum sustained winds.

It was the most intense Atlantic hurricane to strike the United States since Katrina in 2005, and the first major hurricane to make landfall in Florida since Wilma in 2005.

Hundreds of thousands of Floridians evacuated, making it the largest evacuation in the state's history.

Irma caused widespread and catastrophic damage throughout its long lifetime, particularly in parts of the northeastern Caribbean and the Florida Keys.

I did not mean to say Irma was not destructive and catastrophic, but that the impact here in The Villages was relatively minor. Thank you for correcting me.

Well, this is one of the things FEMA is there for. You pay for FEMA through your tax dollars.

If TV had to pay its haulers all the extra money for the many extra truckloads of debris dumped, you would feel that in your wallet.

I don't get why people are so upset about this.

I guess I'm upset because my grandchildren are getting left with the damn cost of this. I would be astonished if this community was is actually getting FEMA assistance. Call me old fashion.

I guess they are just lying about the FEMA assistance.

I guess I will have to disagree with those who believe that FEMA assistance is our "just do". This community rattling a tin cup is troubling to me.

I wish I knew what was going on. VCDD keeps blaming FEMA. FEMA posts this: "FEMA is no longer hosting the Debris Removal Contractor Registry in an effort to streamline the Federal government enterprise structure. To replace this capability, you may use the contractor registry at SAM.gov hosted by the United States General Services Administration at the link provided below. SAM.gov provides a similar service to that provided by the Debris Removal Contractor Registry: contractors may register their business information on the site, including capabilities and locations served, and those seeking assistance from companies providing debris removal services may search for such companies on SAM.gov." Is the developer playing money games?

I'm not quite sure what all this means.
