Seems odd!!

Anyway we all can have an opinion of what happened at any business establishment. However, the proven most effective way to challenge any dissatisfaction is right then and there and not with the "help" but with the management or owners when appropriate, especially if there was also a dissatisfaction with those you raised the problem with.

My wife is a regular of Tuscany Day Spa & Salon and like many, many other residents of TV find Tuscany, it's help, it's service and customer satisfaction to be outstanding....7 years running!

If you have not talked to the owner yet about your claim, then it seems a little unfair to publicize a dissatisfaction, that now may include a rude encounter.

btk

I asked to speak with the owner and was told she was traveling--my stylest also told me that the owner very seldom comes in the salon-
I spoke with a very rude manager and a gentleman who was polite and stern
I am sure your wife loves the spa and salon- I have no complaints about the service I received--I do have a complaint about the way they charged me
the extra $32.00--when I signed the charge I was asked to sign the total amount with no breakdown--As I had purchased some hair products I did not
realize I was over charged until I returned home--I discovered the breakdown charge in the bottom of my bag: $37.00 partial perm
$32.00 for a shampoo/ finish--I did not receive these services as my stylist rinsed out the perm and towel dried my hair and off I went--If they had told me the cost for a partial perm was $69.00 I would not be complaining as I paid up to $200.00 for my perms in California--
A yes I do have the right to vent regarding this situation as I do not want any one else to go through what I just went through--This situation would never happen in Califormnia!!!!!!!

on line--type wwwwellahairproducts.com and order!
If you get your wella hair products Fantastic Sams will let you bring your own hair color--they may ask you to sign a paper stating they are not to be responsable for damage--they will also let me bring my perms--they also do a nice job!

Something just doesn't hang together in this "story".

btk

This situation is far different than a resturant--do you go to the beauty shop and ask for the price before services are rendered? I do and was over charged by $32.00 the price they quoted me for a partial perm was $37.00
in their brochure they clearly quote $37.00
in their brochure they quote for hair finishing service $32.00 shamptt/finish
I had neither--I got the perm --she rinced out of the product "not shampoo I was towel dried and out I went no finishimg service--if they had quoted me $69.00 for the partial perm and be done with it--the price is not the problem it is the way they do their pricing--I was never told that there was any additional charges.

So, I went back and read Doran's original post, and to tell you the truth, I'm not clear on what they did charge her for. I simply can't believe they quote a price for a perm and a different price to rinse it out. Does not make sense. Maybe they put a conditioner of some sort??

Doran, can you please clarify this? It's starting to be a bit like beating a dead horse, but I think it's important that we know what the actual complaint is about. After all, some may decide not to patronize Tuscany because of misunderstanding this thread.

When I called the salon to see if they would allow me to bring my own perm and have it applied? They said not and I continued to ask which perm product the salon used! Low and behold it was the ISO product--I ask the price and was quoted $37.00 for a partial perm--as I have short hair!
Due to a cancelation I was able to get an appointment at 10:15am last Saturday--I arrived at the salon at 10:00 am --a gentleman offered me a cup of coffee and told me I would be taken care of soon--the gentleman explained to me that their prices were ala carte and handed me a brochure--I asked me once again for the price of the partial perm and he said $37.00
I must say I was empressed with the service and left a very happy lady:
the rest is history--I returned home to find the detailed credit card charge--found the additional charge of $32.00 and tried to resolve it with the salon--
I was told to look at their brochure to find Hair finishing services--shampoo/finish was $32.00 of which I had neither--the rest is history

Once she was told it was not a mistake, that it was the salon policy, then my point was that anything over and above that might save her the $37, if the owner made a judgement call, but it would probably be too late to save the relationship with the salon. Who knows, though....maybe the OP would have been satisfied with that and continue to go there, since she did like the perm. Maybe she would be willing to pay the extra next time, since she would know about it. I got the feeling it wasn't the money, exactly, as much as it being a "hidden" add on, but I don't know.

It was not the money it was the hidden charge I was not told about I would gladly pay $69.00 for the service--I am from California and have paid $200.00 for a perm with no hidden charges"
the relationship has ended I will never return there again!

I also have used Wella haircoloring for many years. So when I got to TV, I was shocked to find only 2 salons that carry Wella. Believe me I called nearly all listed for TV area. Some of the salons I talked to were kind of snooty saying "oh that's an old brand, we only use the newer brands and formulations" basically indicating that old is not as good as new brands or formulations. One salon that uses Wella is Urban Hair Studio which is where I go and the other is Chadia's (spelling?) in Lady Lake which I have never been to. I have been going to Whitney for a year now at Urban. Just like my former hairdresser of many years, she does not cut my hair exactly the same each time as there are always slight variations and that is OK. I do have to remind her sometimes to cut out aroud my ears and not too short in the back. I have lots of hair and it will grow out. No biggie. No, she does not blow dry and style my hair the way I like, neither did my old hairdresser. Depending on what I am doing that evening, I will redo the blowout and style. That is OK too. But, the key is that she got the basic haircut RIGHT and color RIGHT and that is important to me. As she got to know me ( I go every 4 weeks), she suggested some small changes in color and highlights. I liked her suggestions to lighten up a bit. So, I will stay with her and recommend her to others.

btk, are you a girl or a guy? Because this subject is not a dead horse for us womies.

Try the Salon Profesional Academy off of 466 near Wal-Mart. Some of the up-and-coming stylists are very good with perms, cuts and color. I have not tried them for pedicure or manicures. Keep in mind they are students, so it will take longer as every step they do is checked by an instructor before they go forward with the service. They always run specials. This month (March) I believe it is cut/shampoo/style for $9.00. Good luck...the add on charge that you received at Tuscany would burn me up as well.

MR&VAF 03-05-2013 06:50 AM

I'm still learning my way around. I'm a Wella girl as well. Where is Urban Hair Salon located? Val

CFrance 03-05-2013 07:59 AM

It's off of 466, across from Walmart but closer to the 301 end. If you go north on 301, turn right on a little street JUST before the light at 466, and it's on the left half a block down. The street parallels 466.

Day spa and salon

IT IS NOW TIME TO PUT THIS TO REST--PLEASE

We learned many things with the origional post:
First of all I would like to say my experience there was very nice--Emily did a great job on my hair and I was more than satisfied!

The problem was the additional charge on my credit card of which I did not discover until I returned home to find the detailed bill on the bottom of the bag containing the products I purchased:
I called the salon to ask why they charged me the additional $32.00?
The girl on the phone was rude and said you were told of our pricing policy "we price ala carte" yes I was given a brochure that stated $37.00 for a partial perm" On the back of their brochure it quoted several prices for Hair finishing Services! The $32.00 appeared as shampoo finish of which I did not receive--In speaking with their rude manager I was told that the extra $32.00 was for rinsing the product off my hair--
When I made the appointment I was told that the price was going to be $37.00--I spoke with several people in the salon and asked the price and was told $37.00--If they had quoted me $69.00 total I would not be upset as I felt the price was reasonable AT $69.00--My complaint is the over charge as well as the very rude and snippy attitude of their manager when I called.
It was most discusting and uncalled for, to say the least!
As the former owner/manager of the Travel Connection of Beverly Hills located in Beverly Hills California, my clients included some very wealthy and very famous people, I would not have had a wonderful client base and over sixteen million dollars in sales, over each of the ten years I owned the businss!! As the saying goes THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT AND WORD OF MOUTH IS YOUR BEST MODE OF ADVERTISING!
I WILL NOW SIGN OFF FROM THIS SITUATION AND I AM IN HOPES EVERY ONE LEARNED SOMETHING FROM MY POSTING!
RUDNESS IS A NO NO AND UNCALLED FOR IN ANY INDUSTRY!

I am still bewildered as to who would sign for an extra $32 on a credit slip.

Surely (don't call me Shirley) one would know approximately how much the extra items would have cost before signing the credit slip.

As for one who doesn't know how much something costs before signing the credit slip - it is in your best interest to know these things BEFORE putting your signature on the dotted line.

I'm sorry, you get 0% sympathy from me.

The party's over, buggy. Doran made a mistake. There are a lot of reasons as to how this could happen, but it's time to sign off on it, like she said. I'm sure it's a learning experience, for a lot of us as well as for Doran. I agree with putting this to rest.

The problem with getting the cut you want in TV is because almost every stylist is trained at the academy in TV whose owner also owns most of the salons in TV. Makes sense to me.

I go to Cal's barber shop in Sumpter. I have found that a Barber will cut my just as I ask. My barber happens to be a female. I know, going to a new hairstylist is scary!! They never listen to what I ask and assume they know my hair better than I do (65), than they do when they have never seen me before. Cal's barber shop in Spanish Springs, does perms and hair color, eye brow waxing, etc. As I said before, I am so very pleased with Cal's Barber shop

buggyone 03-10-2013 08:37 PM

"I go to Cal's barber shop in Sumpter."

When will the new Villagers learn (come on and join in, Gracie) "Do not PEE in Lake Sumter"?

It is not hard to see you live in Sumter County and the town square is called Lake Sumter Landing.

They changed the bill to the original price-I did not tip the tech..They were extremely rude-I never went back..
I have my hair done-color, cut, perm & style at Mon Ami hair salon...Girls name is Barbara-she does beautiful work...Prices are very fair..Tell her Sandi sent you..They are on 25 in Lady Lake....
