No, they didn't play music, they honked their horn for a half a block.

TH is correct. We all want to keep our streets private. Me too. Problem is, they are not private. Just pull up to any gate and see what happens. You don't have to say a word to those with attendants. At those which are unattended just push the red button. The gate goes up.
There are many gated communities with private streets. TV is not one of them.

You have to go through the county business licensing procedures and abide by their rules and then you have the zoning regulations in each specific area.

sigh.

I will just go to Publix and get my popsicles and ice cream bars.

Publix frozen yogurt is just like eating real ice cream. And if you eat enough of it, it will put on real fat just like real ice cream.

Don't forget about the Carvel trucks! I sold Good Humor circa 1965 for about 3 summers on Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, NY.
Just don't think there will be much demand in TV for a truck.
Maybe I should buy a four seat golf cart and put in a freezer chest and then...
I don't think so...

Taltarzac 08-18-2010 11:05 AM

I doubt of the ice cream trucks would be economically feasible...

...here in the Villages. Not enough people around in many neighborhoods during the Summer months along with many people out and about most of the day golfing, swimming, playing tennis, softball, etc.

Now that's an idea! But it would have to be an electric golf cart. Don't want to "stink up" the shaved ice with gas fumes! <g>

Gene....so much for my idea of a
TV part-time job driving the Ding Dong truck. :cryin2:

How could a "no solicitation" rule, enacted by The Villages, be enforced on public streets. The street in front of your house is no different than the street in downtown Orlando, or downtown Lady Lake.

The gates are only for show.

The Villages, it would seem, has no authority to enact any restrictions on public property. Private property? Yes, Public property? NO.

I'm not in favor of Ice Cream trucks zooking around with music tinking either, but I'm wondering when and if this no "solicitation rule" will be tested.

I'm thinking it will be tested the first time a candidate for public office knocks on your door.

I would think the "law" of supply and demand would keep commercial solicitation off neighborhood streets in TV.

Customer demand: "Leave. Now."

See. Problem solved.

instead of ice cream truck how about a coffee truck that comes around early in the day

Tom Hannon 08-19-2010 05:08 AM

Is there anyone in TV that doesn't have a coffee pot? In NY= coffee trucks were called roach coaches. We don't need horns honking early in the morning waking everyone up.

Carvel Ice-Cream

I was so excited because someone told me that there is a Carvel Ice Cream shop near the Villages. Well, I found the phone number and it is disconnected. Also looked for the store but couldn't find it.
Does anyone know anything about it? I love and miss my Carvel!
ALMetJet- I used to go to Manhattan Beach and buy the Good Humor Bars- maybe you sold me one :)
