I had a telephone jack on the partition wall at the end of the kitchen bar and when the Century Link installer came out I told him this is where I want to put my router as well. He installed the Ethernet jack at that time. Since St. James is newer than Tamarind Grove I would think you would be getting the same services as us.

Direct TV - Century Link
 

We pay for the fiberoptic internet and are suppose to get a speed of 25. It has never happened in the 5 months we have owned it. I do a speed check all of the time to see what we are getting. The billing is all over the place from month to month. The Direct TV goes out quite a bit down here in Florida when it rains or the wind is blowing pretty good. Sometimes for a few minutes and other times for a great amount of time.
Thanks for the information on the pricing. I am going to call right now and see what they are going to do for us.

I forgot you newbies already have fiber running in your homes. Those of us who have been here more than a year still have the old technology. I'm jealous.

In Vermont Direct Satellite TV "bundled" us with Fairpoint Telephone Company and we've had no problems........the internet service is quick and we also have wireless......everything is very fast. We have Windows 7 operating system on our HP computers so it's all the latest......took a little getting used to after XP. Our only problem with Direct Satellite TV is everytime there is a thunderstorm passing through, we lose our "signal". Does this happen in Florida as well with the daily storms during the summer??? We've been wondering what will happen in Vermont when we get our snow storms and blizzards? No satellite signal?

Dish vs Direct
 

In Northern Mi we have DISH, not DIrect TV - does anyone use DIsh vs Direct and if so do they bundle with a phone and cables service ? We are moving down in September and trying to decide prior to the move. ALso we will be still be producing a travel show for WJR radio station in Detroit so need fast cable speed and good land line.

In The Villages Directv is sort of bundling with Century Link. They say later this year you can pay everything on one bill, but in the meantime you get $5 off on your Directv bill if you're with Century Link. I have Century Link for home phone and internet.

Everybody has problems with Directv when there is rain. Unless it's an extremely heavy storm you won't lose your basic non-HD channels. So for example if you are watching TNT, go to TNT basic. If you have made a list of your favorites you can bring the other channels back onto the menu by clicking the yellow button on the remote and enter 'all channels', now you'll see duplicates of all your channels that have HD. For TNT you'll have two channel 245's. Sometimes the rain can be heavy and you'll lose it longer, but that only happens a couple of times a year. If your an NFL fan then Directv is the only way to get NFL Sunday Ticket after you move here.

The internet speed with Century Link I think can go up to 25.0, I have fiber to the curb at 10.0 speed with Century Link.
