I learn directions differently than he does, so I'm really bad at explaining stuff to him. I use my GPS and let it tell me where to go, I check for landmarks, and by the 2nd time of going to a place, I remember it and don't need GPS anymore for that trip. I might surprise him down there at lunchtime, grab a slice of pizza or some kind of what not to stuff my face with before he continues his game. |

I would advise this person to get a new phone and then problem solved. No reason for anyone not to get a new phone as they're so cheap now. |

If you continue straight on Kristine, (instead of turning right to cross the bridge), you will see Lake Deaton plaza. There’s a Piesanos, an Asian food restaurant and Kumo Japanese restaurant there. As for Sawgrass, you have to continue across the bridge on Morse south. Stay on Morse south, (no turns), all the way. It will turn into Meggison south. You’ll pass the St. Catherine entrance and continue. Sawgrass will be on the left. At Sawgrass, there is a pizza place, (Frenchy’s), fish, (Little Fin), and burgers, (Willy’s). Also McGrady’s Pub is adjacent to the market. |
Given the challenges with your phone, i suggest buying portable charger if your cart doesn’t have a USB port ot 12 V plug. You charge the unit at home and plug your phone into it. Now you’ll have enough battery for your phone to get you anywhere and back. You can get a good portable charger for under $20

The trip from the Spanish Springs area to Shallow Creek should take a little more than one hour by golf cart. We live in Chitty Chatty, and it takes me right at 25 minutes to get to Shallow Creek. I can get to Spanish Springs in 40 minutes. |
It is not a normal feature and is only on newer golf carts.

Go onto your computer and download Google Earth app.
Once that is don't type in your home address and hit search, on the map it will take where you live. Add this to your permanent list. This might take a bit of learning. Once this is done from then on when you type an address that you want to go to the map will show you where it is. You then right click on your mouse on the marker and a list will appear, one of the things on the list will say "Directions Here" click on it. Then you go to your permanent list and right click on the list with your address you will see a list "Directions To" click on that. What will happen on the map will show you a line from one location to another, also a box will appear on the upper left of your screen giving you step by step direction to reach your destination and also how long it will take to get there. Once you download this app and learn how to use it will take you second to get directions to wherever you want to go. Good luck |
I use Google maps in bicycle mode all the time. It always bypasses the roundabouts. Maybe you need to update the app...or maybe it's due to the old phone?
Also when you first get directions on Google maps, before you hit "start", at the bottom you will see "steps" or "more info". Click on that and you will get very detailed, step by step instructions. Hope that helps. |
Add a phone charger and phone holder attachment to let the GPS guide you.
You can Add a phone charger and phone holder attachment to let the GPS guide you. Amazon has a phone holder that goes in your cup holder and holds the phone where it is easy to see. Then attach a charging cable to whichever port is available in your golf cart. Here is the link to the phone holder;
TOPGO Cup Phone Holder for Car, [No Shaking & Stable & Adjustable Pole] Car Cup Holder Phone Mount, Cell Phone Cradle for iPhone 14 and More Smart Phone - Black https://a.co/d/fEnotEM |

What about the ability to keep phone charging while using cart? I asked and then someone else did also, offered to add an piney if not.

Thanks to those who answered the question I asked. To those who made suggestions for improvement, I'm sure someone will have benefited from them.
Bring a charger: and plug it into what, on a golf cart? Install a charger: pay $90 just to get directions for a single trip? Buy a new phone: pay several hundred dollars just to get directions for a single trip? Do anything other than get directions: He left at 6 this morning for his ride. There wasn't anything he could do between yesterday and today, other than get directions - which is why my request was for directions. And - the spouse will be buying a new phone, when he gets around to it. He doesn't like change. His phone is from 2010. It works. Just not well, and he mostly uses it just to text me asking me to pick up Subway for him. If he got a new phone he'd have to learn how it worked, and set up his apps, and uninstall apps that run that he doesn't want to deal with, or learn how to deal with them, and so on and so forth. He is male. Males and new things don't go well together. He still hasn't figured out how to efficiently use the remote control for the TV and refuses to learn how to use the voice activation on it. |
USB plugs are an add on feature for older carts. We added ours to a 2015 Yamaha. The might be standard now.
