$130 per person is a fair price. Find some others who agree, form a committee, and take your research to the decision-makers.

QUOTE=sallyh26;1769409]Today I called priority pool membership to sign up for a membership. My neighbors have been asking me to do it this so we could go to the pools together, at the country clubs.

The cost for a single membership is $200. But for people living at the same address it’s $130 or $260 for a couple.

How is this fair? It should be one price for all. Singles live on one income and have to Pay more than couples who live on two incomes.

Yes I bought the membership but not happy about this discrimination against singles. Just needed to vent #%+%#¥[/QUOTE]

I understand you fully. A single person should not have to pay more than a couple. Ignore some of these childish comments, because in due time, if one should divorce or become widowed, I'm sure they'll be complaining about paying to much as a single person.

I totally agree. Did you ask how they justify that? Not that it would change.

You are never going to get sympathy from a couple . They just don’t understand how often singles get screwed. This is just the cream on the pudding. From the fact that they can’t claim head of household with the IRS even though they are, to paying double for a cruise cabin , to paying double for sanitation ( even though they are putting out less trash) , to paying more for a pool membership ( I understand the $130 because when you divide the $260 by 2 , it comes out to $130 each while a single pays $200 no matter what) , to my beach pass when I lived up north ( a family of five paid the same as a single - no breaks) . Even in the stimulus package a couple got double what the single got- it didn’t go by household . Yes, singles get screwed at every turn- yet they are still paying the same mortgage , fees , taxes, sanitation , Water, amenities, Etc. as everyone else. Stop attacking her and open your eyes people. It pays to be a couple.

Default Economics

It is the same for golf. I believe the assumption is that for most couples (not all) that one of the two is the one who uses it the most (golf or pool) and the other one comes along occasionally. If they changed to pricing it per person they would not lower the single price they would raise the couple price and then it would not be worth the price for the second half of the couple to join.
Thus, they make more revenue by lowering the price for the second person of the household because they at least get $60 vs nothing.
So in your example, it’s $200 for the first person and $60 for the second. I’ve been paying single rates for 20 years and I’ve come to grudgingly accept this. It is economics. Not discrimination.

Thank you. I agree with you. Others are comparing apples and oranges.

I am part of a couple, but I agree with you, it is not fair when it comes to passes for pools, beaches, PTA ember ships, and so forth. I do separate property taxes, sanitation fees, anc such. There are larger families who put out less trash because of there reuse and recycling than a.single household. I addresses the OTA dues directly with the organization, it was corrected.

It's the same with everything. Singles do not get a break in golf, amenity fee,etc

Pool memberships and amenities fees should be pro-rated for single people. I pay the same for amenities/activities as my neighbors who have two people in the household. I only use half the amenities as they do, yet we pay the same. I'm not saying it should be half, because part of the fee includes groundskeeping, etc., but there should be some discount for the amenities part for single households. I'm sure there is a breakdown of how the fee is calculated and this could be adjusted.

Thank you. Pools have water in them no matter. Why a priority pool? I go to the neighborhood pool. I personally cannot buying a priority is worth it. But if that is your choice I cannot see you complaining about the price.

I'd like to know what this is also. We haven't yet moved to TV but planning to do so in 2 years and this is the first time I've heard of a priority pool membership.

It's like everything else in business. The more you buy the lower the price per unit.
