Life is unfair, that's just the way it is. At 60 I was widowed twice, first after 32 years, he died of cancer, second after 8 years, he died from complications of Parkinson's that came on quickly. Both were amazingly happy marriages. Life is not fair. I now pay a single supplement for most things, resign yourself to it, it's just the way life is. Yes, it makes life harder, but it is doable. If you want things to change don't complain on this site, it does nothing to change things. Go to the Villages community meetings, stand up and make your case to people who could actually change things and then respectfully listen to their reasons why things are as they are. Be a voice for change where it counts, or stop whinning.

As noted in the OP it is a country club membership for use of the pool and no golf. If you want to be part of that crowd you have to pay the piper, all of the other pools are covered by your amenity fees.

It's not that singles pay more. It's that couples get a discount. A single membership in a household of two people will still pay the singles price, even though there are two people in the household. But if that person signs up their significant other, that second person will get a discount.
Kind of like a buy one get one half-off sale. Anyone who only wants to buy one - has to pay full price for that one. But if they want a second one, they'll get a break on the price for the second one. Try not to think of it as discrimination, and more as a package deal for bulk orders. |

Perhaps the minimum for a household/address is $200, single? If you have a roommate, $130 for that person, better than 2 $200’s? If you have a spouse, $260 for the couple, again better than 2 $200’s? Just speculating. It’s not unusual for a couple to get a price break per person, vs 2 singles, EVERYWHERE.

I agree, it is a rip off for singles here. Golf is the biggest. That’s all I have to say about that.

Refreshing! This is exactly what all of America should be about. Debating without cursing and impugning (well, maybe a little). One of my guidelines in life: I look at the rules and decide "yes" or "no." Period. Or, as Groucho Marx once said, "I don't want to be a member of a club that would have me." Humor helps during a pandemic. By the way, what's a swimming pool? In Ohio, it's a mirage during the pandemic.

And being single I should also get a break in taxes for not flushing the toilet as much as a couple does
