Well... maybe the dog is (or my husband), but he's the reason for the Dysons. That would be the dog, not the husband.

For all of you saying Shark, which model are you referring to? Looks like there are several??

Sweatman 12-08-2016 09:41 AM

I bought Dyson Animal Vac but can't even get it thru the carpet the suction is so strong. And I'm no weakling! We have upgraded rubber carpet pad which may be the problem. My husband has to vacuum the rugs now, the only benefit to this particular Dyson.

The Shark I saw advertised against Dyson is absolutely brand new and I think it was the Shark Rotator. See this site, some really good comparison on both vacuums.

My step-son has a Shark and loves it. Don't know what model. I've got an old Panasonic.

I have the same unit. Ordered it from Wayfair, for about $200, IIRC.

It can be configured as an upright, a canister (My choice because of the ease of switching from floor to attachments) or a lift-away. DH prefers upright, because the canister nips his heels.:doggie: With the canister configuration, you have all your attachments right with you.

Another feature I like is the bare floor cleaner. It includes a washable pad that really gets the floor clean. I use it before DH mops.

My vote is for the Shark Rocket! Light weight, many attachments, can be hung on a wall for easy access, long cord covers most of my area...powerful and half the price! My daughter got a Dyson as a wedding gift....she now has a shark rocket. You can find them for under $200 (recently got one for my daughter-in-law for $139). you just can't beat it for value and performance!

That's odd. My Animal Stick works fine on our carpet. We don't have upgraded pad, though. But I'll take it over anything with a cord any day. It's so convenient and works like a charm. But I particularly appreciate how easy it is to use on the tile and how well it does the edges up against the baseboards, gets under chairs and tables, etc.

we have 2 dysons......one for each home....the first is from 2003.... works great....it is heavy but it rolls really easy. Taking it apart to use the hose is a little more difficult feeding in the hose when finished..but still worth it. Also very easy to start. Paid $299 14 years ago. Still works like the first day.

Second we bought 8 years ago..ball, dyson..yellow...easy hose because it does not need to be fed thru the pole, but its hard to turn on pushing the clip at the base unless I have shoes on.. Paid a little more, but I cant remember how much.

Bought the new rechargeable from Sams last month. Coudn't get it to work on my thick pile carpets...wouldn't push.....but it worked great on the tile floors. we paid $399 but I did take it back because spending that much for a vacume that doesn't work on my area rugs...just wasn't worth it.

We also have an Oreck....got it cheap at Pennys but although its lighter than the dyson...its not bagless and I really don't think it works as well. also it came with a canister for corners. that meant I had to store 2 vacumes. Gave it to my daughter and shes thrilled because even though its not as good as a dyson....its not a shark...which she had and broke after 8 months.

Spend the money...Dysons last forever... and have not had to repair them ever....

We bought a new dyson when we moved her 2 1/2 yrs ago. Nice vacuum. But you still have to do the work! Just a couple of months ago we got smart and bought a Roomba. Man, I don't know why it took us so long!

It does a fantastic job! And we don't even need to be here. It actually cleans better than any vacuum we have ever had, Kirby, Oreck, Dyson! Love, love, love it!!
