Default Dog Park?

Sorry I got carried away talking about dogs on golf courses, and in peoples yards. I love animals, but I don't want them in my yard. Is that so bad?
I would love to see a dog park, but no one wants them near there home. Like I said there is one on Cnty. Rd. 101, Doggy Do Run Run, have you been there? Hope you all check it out.

When our son visited with his dog Quixote several months ago, we took Pups to Doggie Do Run Run a couple of times. Really nice setup with a daily visit cost of $3, and the owners of this private park insist on cleaning up after the dogs. They do have a monthly rate for TV residents who have dogs which is much more reasonable, I believe $25/month; I would appreciate someone confirming these rates. We took the dog to a public dog park in the Clearwater area a few times when we were there, which was free and an equally neat arrangement for dogs of different sizes and so forth, but the area around TV may not be ready to support a public dog park....

You are right about the costs per day of $3 at Doggie Doo Run Run for non member's dogs. Membership is $25 a month and as far as I know that do not have a yearly fee. It is pay month-by-month for members.

More than one dog also figures into this. Not sure of the pricing on this I have heard people say different rates on occasion.

You need proof that your dogs have had their shots and they have to have been fixed.

They also do not admit aggressive dogs but that seems to be monitored on a case-by-case basis.

Doggie Doo Run Run is about 3/4s of a mile north on CR101 just before the radio tower and is on the east side of the street. It is also just south of the intersection of CR104 and CR101.

It is on the same road as Crispers and CVS just north of CR466.

Doggie Doo Run Run charges $25 per month for one dog and $30 for two. I visited it at least 170 times during my six months in TV. It's a marvellous place. However it is private, and on prime land. Should it close, I would think the desire for a dog park within TV would definitely increase. But don't get me started on that thread again!

I would imagine they have a busy season and charge more at the time. Glad to hear it's a good place to bring your dog. There was a sign posted on Rolling Acres Road, near the golfing range, but I only saw it once.

That's Lady Lake Dog Park on Rolling Acres Road. Have only been by it. There's a membership application for the Lady Lake Dog Park in a download from near the bottom of this link. http://www.ladylake.org/Parks%20&%20Rec/PARKSREC.html

MnGirl, how many dogs do you have? I've been told the Rolling Acres dog park is open mornings only. And that it isn't as clean as DDRR. But I've never checked it out because I've been so happy ith DDRR.

We passed an area on a corner down south of SL Sq. by Stillwater and Buena Vista Blvd. where a patchy path leads to a stand of trees and a few folks had dogs enjoying the open air. This will probably be built up with businesses in the near future, but seems to offer an 'in TV' doggie respite for the moment. Or could those folks have been stepping out of bounds? :dontknow:

Sorry to hear that MnGirl, I misunderstood, I thought you were looking for a Dog Park for your dogs.
I understand why you wouldn't want another dog; my dogs are like people to me. I know how much pain it is to lose one.

On the Dog Park theme, I wasn't suggesting a dog park for every village, that would be way too many and impossible! Just a piece of scrubby grass, perhaps something in a commercial or industrial area away from people's houses.

One last remark. And then I'm doing a Kuhuna on this topic. My husband is an archer, and they provide an Archery Range, which takes plenty of room. I bet there are way fewer archers than dog owners.

It's my understanding a dog park will be coming to The Villages. Following is copied from March 12, 2008 Resident Advisory Council Meeting Minutes which indicates a dog park was approved at Paradise Park. Not sure, but think that would be in the vicinity of Paradise Rec Center.

FIFTH ORDER OF BUSINESS: Dog Park Update
John Land, Council Member, provided an update for the Council on the progress of the Dog Park
Focus Group and presented the Dog Park Focus Group recommendations for the proposed development
for the Council’s consideration. Mr. Land answered questions from the Council and requested approval
of the Focus Group recommendation.
On MOTION by John Land, seconded by Chico Mir, with all in favor, the Council
directed Staff to move forward with the development of an enclosed Dog Park at
Paradise Park in an amount not to exceed $10,000.
The Council thanked Mr. Land for his facilitation of the focus group.

I found this info on www.districtgov.org website under Resident Advisory Council. So you may want to contact the RAC for further info.

That is good information English Ivy. I know that area has been unofficially used as a dog park for a long time. Residents on the Historical Side have been lobbying for this park for quite a while.

I believe the dog park will be located just over the bridge to the historic side with the area located on the same side as the archery range to be fenced.

How many people feel a dog park is going to stop people from walking their dogs on
neighborhood streets and on their neighbors lawns? I wish it were that simple. I still feel the developer needs to add a restriction to prevent this from happening.
