Hi
We are living in our second Courtyard Villa. These properties are wonderful for dogs. We have one dog that’s about 15 pounds and the other is 85 pounds and they both can easily stretch their legs and do their business if they need to. We do walk them and take them for socialization and exercise at a nearby dog park… one of which there are many here in the villages. They both love the golf cart ride to the dog park.
I hope you find a great home and welcome to the neighborhood.
Larry

Isn't there a rule about no dogs over 60 or 80 lbs? IF NOT then there should !

We let our dogs out in our unfenced yard unattended for hours. We also don't pick up crap but a few times a week. The only possible worry my wife has (not me) is the dogs swimming in the lake with the gators, but they are pretty good about not going for swims.

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. Unless your dog is a runner, you'll be fine.

Well which is it? Is it safe to leave small dogs outside unattended? There seems to be completely opposing views on this....

What is your problem with big dogs?
Sounds like it's YOU who has a problem.

Generally speaking, big dogs aren't yappers, and owners pick up their poop (because it's BIG and usually identifiable!).
They aren't skittish like many small dogs and are usually well-behaved.

The Village of Bradford allows fences on some of the homes. We were allowed to add one to our Wisteria model. There is one on Bednarik for sale that you could most likely add a fence to. It is a Mossy Oak. Our realtor Barbara Lightbody was able to find out that we could add the fence and helped us get ARC approval. Its a nice village and we have a beautiful walking path a block away that runs along a fenced preserve.

Not true. Some Courtyard Villas have 1800 square ft plus. The older villas have much larger yards and smaller garages.(1 1/2 cars) New construction has small yards and large garages.( 2 1/2 cars )

If you buy preowned, most have large birdcages already done. Some even have a glass enclosed section to the side.

We are in our mid 70's and concerned with having to always walk the dogs as we get older.

Thoughts?

There are plenty of dog parks .

Just an observation.

Don't buy anything without a fence. I bought a home WITHOUT a fence and immediately regretted it, I was only a block from the dog park but it was a huge hassle going out with the dogs all the time and occasionally in the middle of the night. Also the dog parks are only open dawn to dusk. No fence ultimately was a major decision in selling the house.

I guess we all missed the part of the deed that requires all dogs meet your approval before being allowed in The Villages...anything else you want to regulate? Dog's names? color? age?

Guessing you don’t live in TV proper if you have dogs running unleashed for hours alone. TV has many Responsible Pet Owners. If there is a pet running loose, it’s not because residents ignore the leash laws. Many will try to capture lost pet, and find rightful owner,

We didn’t come from “City Living” so for more than 15 years in TV, Wildlife is abundant everyday. Bears, panthers, coyote packs, bobcats, snagging a dog or two.
6’ gators knocking on your door at 3am. 3 dogs that we know of in TV, drown by gators.
Eagles, hawks love small pets left unattended, with proof of collars under nests.
While venomous snakes are few, they are still spotted in the many protected areas.

Get the fenced yard, you can't add one and we were in the same position. We finally found a cottage villa, it's awesome.

Two senior women in our neighborhood got seriously injured because their dog was not well trained and pull the owner to the ground.

At least one senior woman in east Florida got killed by an alligator because the alligator was going after her dog. The dog ran and the lease made the woman fall.
