My wife did exactly as you described...with neighbors nearby. She was so embarrased. She came in, told me what she did with a bright red face. I was able to do some creative body work on the door and it's as good as new. She made me the nicest dinner that night! The reason I didn't get mad at her is I figured I'd keep that goof "in the bank" and use it when I really screw up.:icon_wink:

I'm reminded of my beloved grandfather, Joe Evans. He spent his life growing a successful dairy farm in NW Arkansas. At age 70 he decided it was time to retire and move to Lubbock Texas to be near kids. He had never owned a car, only pickups. So when they got to Lubbock he went to the Ford dealer (always owned a Ford truck). The salesman asked what he wanted. He said he wanted a blue one, and pointed at the biggest Lincoln on the lots. I think he had visions of how many bales of hay would fit in the trunk. Pulled out his wallet and paid him in cash. (Love my granddad.) He took it home and drove into the garage of the new house. I should mention the farm house didn't have a garage so this was new. He promptly drove it about 24 inches into the kitchen. Turns out the biggest Lincoln was about a foot longer than the garage. Took it back and told the guy he wanted a shorter one. Didn't care what color or model.

Now there is an easy customer. I'm sorry about your accident. I know you feel bad, but you brought back a fond memory of someone who meant the world to me and has been gone 40 years. Thanks.

How about watching your neighbor back his car right through the garage screen? (The screen was a manual screen, so don't know how he could have forgotten to open it.) That happened about a week ago. I very quickly slunk back inside so he didn't know he was caught.

Yup, we all do dumb things sometimes.

Trust me you'll get used to them....take from me....a person that was in denial of even needing glasses.....

We have a family affair with backing into things so I think it is normal to hear about them. My son a few years back "thought" he put the garage door up but instead somehow didn't realize (to this day can't figure out how) that it was UP to begin with and actually put it down, and as I sat in the family room I hear a loud BANG.. yep backed right into the door. Than my brother, about a year later after sharing a good laugh how my son did it, HE did it to his garage the same thing! Than my sister takes the cake. She "forgot" to shut the driver door while backing out of her garage and ripped it right off the hinges!
AND, finally my brother was turning around on a street after waiting in line for a train too long. The woman in front of him was doing the same thing. He turned behind her and was putting it in reverse when the woman did it faster than he did and rammed into his front end. Now that wasn't bad enough, but she put it in drive, than backed up again and hit his car a second time when he was getting out of it to look at the damage. She just said she didn't see him obviously but couldn't explain the second hit! She than said, give me your phone number and I'll call you when I get home. lol Duh
So see.. some seem unexplainable but we all are human and have our moments.

More dents on our cars have happened in our driveway. Wife backed into son's truck trailer hitch; I pulled up too close to the same trailer hitch. Son backed truck in my car. We are truly a "family affair" when it comes to accidents in the driveway. Welcome to "our world"!!!:beer3:
